Hello all in a dilemma,
from what I can see online and on the forums here iOS 26 is now pretty much in it’s final stage and stable enough for daily use .
However my problem is that if I update my iPhone 16 pro max I won’t be able to go back as don’t have a computer to use for that .
So what I am wondering is it worth updating now or wait till after public release? My fear is also the liquid glass look and I am not sure 100 percent yet if I like it all as there are some bits that look better in my opinion.
Any advice be appreciated
thanks
No computer or Apple Store near you?
If no, I would suggest to wait until official release, it’s always a possibility that the installation can fail and makes your iPhone useless…

I don’t have PC/Mac either, but I have two apple stores near to my home, so no problem.

But if you don’t have that near to your home/location, I would wait!

Toggling on reduce transparency in Accessibility settings solved my liquid glass concerns. Everything perfectly visible for me.

Well I updated my 16 Pro yesterday to iOS 26 public beta 4, and after over 24 hours I have no regrets or no reason to want to downgrade back to iOS 18.

I too have no way of doing it anyway, unless I wanted to drive over an hour to my closest Apple Store.

I think you’ll be fine if you jumped onto the beta train at this stage. Nothing scary or no big issues & it’s only going to improve in the coming weeks 😀

This isn’t what the user asked for…
He asked for advise if he should jump on beta train or not…

Ok. Yes. Figured that was implied.

Fantastic, I am joining the beta train wish me luck !

Has anyone had issues with their alarms being turned off or not working at all? I know someone on an earlier beta had issues but not sure about now.

Not at all, got three different alarms every day on specific times over the day and all are working properly as expected!

If your concerns are so high, just wait. Final release is only about a month away.

If you are unsure about the glass look, you also can wait until 26.1 or later. But of corse this look is here to stay for the next time.

I bet Liquid Glass won’t fade away anytime soon and I love Liquid Glass !
The big clock with glass effect on my lockscreen is perfect !

Evidently the number of columns is limited by the size of the the screen and Nissan's UI so we just get the 5 widgets at a time.
Thanks. Was curious to see if the different screen resolutions were at play or if it was truly the aspect ratio. Beta 1 & 2 gave me 2 stacks, so up to 10 widgets, which gave me a lot more functionality and reason to use the widget page.

I hope someday they’ll bring it back, but I’m not keeping my hopes up.

Just finished installing, very smooth install no problems.
Phone quite warm but guess that is to be expected.
Initial impressions are positive I would say but will have to have a good play around , instantly I can feel it’s quicker opening apps etc and not sure on the new icons from a distance it looks like the icons not loaded properly and blurry but sure will get used to it .
Glad I waited till PB 4 as this feels basically final .

Anyone got the same issue ? The keyboard reverts back to the iOS 18 looks for the third party apps!
The new keyboard looks amazing but then it goes back for third party’s !

FB19790861 (Tapping into Search bar and then elsewhere causes visual glitch)

Tapping into the Mail app's search bar and then elsewhere to take focus away from the search field causes this visual glitch between the search and neighbouring toolbar.

Taking a direct screen capture, either still or video, doesn't reproduce the glitch so I needed to film off-screen.

Tapping somewhere else again usually forces the glitch to correct itself.

Why is Control Center pulldown is not like Notification pull down?

Notification pull down looks fantastic, what am I missing?

Control Center looks out of place and inconsistent. Few betas back there was some stretching, some glass effect. Now it’s boring and forgotten.

I hate how it is but it’s so you can quickly and easily swipe through CC pages, if it was slow pull down like NC then youd have no room on screen to swipe down to next pages
