Have you gotten a quote for battery replacement? I might upgrade my AW8 to an AWU3 but am bummed how quickly the battery does fade in the watch, unless a replacement every few years isn't too expensive. Isn't battery replacement free if you have Apple Care+ once the battery health is less than 80%?

I haven't gotten a quote, and battery replacement is certainly an option I'm considering too. It'll depend on the final feature set.

I just finished a diving trip and used my Apple Watch Ultra for the dives. Each day had 3 Open water dives of roughly 45 min per dive. After the 3rd dive my watch was usually down to 15% and by 5pm the same day the battery was 0%.

So yes, the battery is short if you use the watch for activities. Like things the watch was designed to be used.
Good point; very good point. But to be fair, although I have done more, three 45-minute dives is a lot. So I can see why Apple has battery life where it currently is. The good news is that the AWU recharges quickly, so applying a battery pack during surface intervals should suffice.

I'm definitely getting it. Love my Ultra 1 too. What's your battery health? Mine is currently at 86%.
Mine is at 89%, which is significantly better than previous Apple Watches I have owned. Being able to charge at twice the speed also makes this less of an issue, even as total capacity degrades.

I hope Apple keep improving the battery life. Having the Watch comfortably lasting five years before having to be replaced would be a nice benchmark.

I’m trying to talk myself out of an AW3U. I had the AW2U for about a week but just found charging a hassle compared to the Fenix 8 and with little to no gain.

THIS. Happy to spend my money for AWU but only once they release a smaller case version. Till then, I'm sticking with the regular AW.
Hi, It’s rumoured that the Ultra 3 will be slightly slimmer so it doesn’t stand so far off our wrist (personally I’m happy with my Ultra 2 size case…). A Blue colour is also rumoured to be released on September 9 but I’ll stick with bare Titanium for my Ultra 3!

People are already asking, “Does the Ultra look too big on my wrist?” I can only imagine the number of posts if Apple makes the watch even bigger.
Apple aren’t making the Ultra 3 bigger they will achieve a slightly larger screen by shrinking the bezels. I have the Titanium Ultra 2 and my cousin has the boring Black version, when we compare our Ultras side by side on our wrists his Black Ultra definitely looks smaller (overweight folks often wear black clothing because it seems to make them appear smaller!) so maybe my cousin’s Black Ultra looks smaller because of its colour?

I feel very safe in promising to eat my hat if there’s blood pressure monitoring on the new AWU3.
It won’t be the type of BP measuring that a medical BP measuring device uses, it will monitor our BP over time and notify us if it senses a sudden change upwards in our BP. This could be a warning sign that we are developing hypertension and need to see a doctor. Hypertension kills thousands of people every year because it isn’t diagnosed and treated - they don’t call it “the silent killer” for nothing!

Given that the Ultra wasn't updated last year (except the color), I think there could be some redesign, eg slightly larger...
More importantly, need new health sensor
It definitely won’t be “larger”, screen size increase will be achieved by slimming the bezels. It is rumoured that Ultra 3 will be slightly slimmer so it doesn’t stand so far off our wrist.

This is interesting. It looks like just a 3% increase in screen size, if the pixel density remains the same? I mocked up a 3% increase here, if the case were to remain the same size, and the difference in bezels is barely noticeable to me.

Maybe this points to a more significant redesign? That could make sense given last year's model was identical, with just the dark finish added, but there have been no rumors about a new case. Something a little slimmer with a screen that is technically, if barely, bigger than the Series 10/11 would tempt me.
An increased screen size will be achieved by slimming the bezels - makes sense to me!

If there is blood pressure I am upgrading from AW2 for sure.
After 45… monitor everything 😂
Don’t expect the equivalent of a medical BP device… It will measure our BP over time and notify us if it detects a sudden increase in our BP which may indicate that we are developing hypertension which deserves its nickname “the silent killer”, thousands die every year because of undiagnosed hypertension.

100% agree.
And yes - I don’t expect a medical device at all.
As far as I know, they will measure some form of variation - like you say, but it’s not a full BP measurement.

It’s enough if the device says: Go to doctor, something’s strange about your BP.
