iOS 26 Gets First Jailbreak Thanks to Dopamine

After 326 days, iOS 26 has received its first jailbreak, thanks to the developers behind the popular Dopamine jailbreak.

Lars Fröder, better known as opa334, today released Dopamine 3.0, which adds support for a number of newer firmware versions, including iOS 26.0 and iOS 26.0.1 on devices with A12 or A13 chips.

Another major addition in today's release is support for all devices running iOS 16.5.1 through iOS 17.3.1, significantly expanding the range of devices and software versions compatible with Dopamine.

Unless something has changed in the past couple of years, there's not much to gain by jailbreaking - it was always about the apps, snd most of the good app developers (like Ryan Petrich) seem to have moved on to other things. There really doesn't seem to be much out there that tempts me anymore.

It's too bad, because some of Apple's most "innovative" additions to iOS over the years were basically copies of apps / tweaks from the Cydia store - stuff we jailbreakers had access to literally years ahead of the iOS community at large.

You can get decent built in adblocking using a free AdGuard DNS configuration profile. I use it and it works on cellular as well. Of course, not uBlock level, but it blocks 90% of stuff you see around.

I wouldn’t even want to, my days of doing that are far over. Even with my Android I didn’t do anything like change the launcher or anything, phones on both sides are pretty damn well good for the most part.

You can install third-party keyboards without jailbreaking.

For me it was custom YouTube app but now I use shortcuts that let me download my videos to photos app
