There is nothing remarkable or skilled here. Apple just published a massive number of security holes they fixed. The jailbreakers used them to jailbreak the versions that still contained those security holes. You wouldn't be smart to be running those older versions now.

Can we now resize the display to 1920x1080 when mirroring on iPad Pro A12Z? Its stuff like this that I would jailbreak because Apple wouldn’t do this.

I remember using jailbreaking to connect a mouse and keyboard to my iPhone using btstack keyboard and btc mouse. Also used a tweek to be able to place icons anywhere on the home screen, and increase the number of icons in the dock. It was cool, but it was always a cat and mouse game with apple. Glad most of this stuff is baked into iOS now.

iOS26 is supported by A13 Bionic and up. Supporting A12 and A13 chips means that more phones can be supported and get security updates that are not supported. It may not be much, but the developers thought it was worth doing.
I tend to keep newer hardware so it doesn't have any appeal to me, but I won't speak for others who may find it to be what they are lacking.

As far as I understand it this is only on older devices? You can't just downgrade to IOS 26 on a new Iphone and jailbreak it?

Things like just in time and the use of hypervisor that is not usable unless jailbroken . This means new iPads with the newer m5 processors can now run utm with nearly the same performance of a MacBook Pro .

The current state is typing on an iPhone really is no laughing matter. It’s pre-2006 first release bad. The worst it’s ever been. I hate it. I can’t use my phone efficiently anymore. Please fix whatever you’ve done to the keyboard and prediction, Apple.

Don't you have to reinstall the app every 7 days when you sideload with xcode?
Personally I can’t wait to get rid of iOS 26 and I’m not sure if jailbreaking will make iOS 26 much better, as it’s so badly optimised.

Apple might publish that they exist, but they don't publish a detailed instruction guide in how to exploit those holes. There is absolutely skill in (re)discovering the exploits needed (and Apple has created enough security measures that there are a lot of them, as shown by the fact older hardware is required), implementing them safely and reliably, and more.

You can do it with SideStore to refresh on a WiFi connection without a PC (and you can use LiveContainer to bypass the 3-app limit)

We were doing all sorts of crazy **** at the bootloader level - things like replacing the Apple logo on boot with your own
Well, other people did anyway. I had taste so I just installed system tweaks
Nowadays they’ll call anything a jailbreak. Oooh, I can change all my icons and load tweaked apps without sideloading an ipa! Does it survive a reboot? Well, no… but I can have it on my home screen, just remember to renew it every 7 days because your free Apple Developer account won’t allow your self signed app to stay longer than that
At this point I just stick with the stock experience

You might be interested to hear about the recent release of the usbliter8 exploit, even though it's only A12/A13.
Also, it's worth pointing out that checkra1n didn't survive a reboot either — tethered jailbreaks are nothing new. I agree with you that unlimited sideloading shouldn't be called a jailbreak

I personally don't see any use for iPhone jaibreaks anymore.
What I see is that jailbreaking your own car system may get huge in the future, like when BMW wanted to charge you a monthly fee to use the already built in seat heating, or like when BMW (again) pushed ads on the main screen before starting your ride.

Don't you need a jailbreak to side-load? Genuine question, I have no idea. I assume there is some way to do it through Xcode or something.
