Why would it be disappointing? Apple didn’t promise the update.
Apple doesn’t promise anything but now I will be waiting potentially another 1-2 months for another update when I am already having a horribly buggy experience on my device. At least 3 resprings already in the time since iOS 26 officially launched. You would be disappointed too. All they had to do was release it

26.1 is out in two weeks. What do you mean by 1-2 months?

leaving us without 26.0.2 is extremely disappointing
Extremely. Even if RC is out next Monday, that still means 2 weeks to the release, with a buggy, battery gulping, 26.0.1

Apple really doesn’t give a damn anymore.

Not everyone is interested in 26.1. Regardless, even 2 weeks is a long time to leave unstable software unaddressed on what are supposed to be the most advanced “phones”/portable computers on the planet. Mere weeks after they milked how many dollars out of people for new hardware? The state of the software and the way they handle it shows it is just not a priority for them. Oh, let’s test this update, maybe we’ll release it maybe we won’t, tee-hee! What other company does this?

I could see a beta 5 next week. The PlayStation VR2 controllers for Vision Pro aren't available from Apple until the week of the 11th November, whether that's a supply issue or they don't want to put them on sale until software compatibility is ready.

So that could put us at:
Beta 5 - w/c 27th October
RC - w/c 3rd November
Public Release - 10th November

Apple appears to be sidelining an update that I consider to be significant, and I’m disappointed by it.
Apple is not sidelining anything. X.0.2 updates aren’t a common thing. iOS 13 went straight from 13.0 to 13.1.
Just because they’re testing something and MR decided to write an article about it doesn’t meant it’s a given. Big companies like Apple and Google have multiple software branches being developed and tested in parallel but don’t always get released.

Development on iOS 27 has started as well, would you be disappointed if they didn’t release it soon?

Anyway, I’m not sure why you’re hung up on 26.0.2 so much when your issues could easily be resolved with 26.1. In many ways and for many, 26.1 betas have been much better performing and stable compared to 26.0 or 26.0.1. You often seem to pick one specific thing with issues and avoid any alternative solutions. Like Apple devices before, now a version that has neither been promised to be released or expected to fix your specific bugs.

Only on MacRumors will people attempt to justify Apple not releasing bug fixes for $2000 phones

26.1 includes bug fixes too FYI.
MR or not no one would appreciate a bug-ridden iOS which is why I jumped on 26.1 beta when 26.0.1 got frustrating to use. Less buggy and I recommend you try as well if you can’t stand 26.0.1. Read the thread.
Over and out!

Yes Apple did a test of 26.0.2 and Tim asked the team is this going to fix all MrRom92 problems, they said probably not and Tim told them to bin it and get back on 26.1.
So verybody waiting for 26.0.2 say thank you to MrRom92 for not getting it 😀

I hope they don’t can 26.0.2 after testing it internally, it would be unprecedented behavior for them and I am more interested in installing that than 26.1
I just went back through this thread to see if I could find some indication as to why you're so upset right now, and couldn't find it. Can you please enlighten us as to why you're so dead set on hating 26.1?

It runs pretty perfect on my 16 PM - no hangups, stuttering or springboards happening.

Sounds for me like a device specific issue, which could call for a clean install to check if that helps. I do this occasionally - at least at the beginning of a big beta cycle to remove any leftovers calling for trouble to avoid unpredictable behavior.

I would rather attempt an installation of an update as a sort of light “refresh” of the OS before resorting to much more drastic measures
