I feel very strongly that Apple should do live presentations on stage to gain some trust back from the public they they lost. No way to fool people with screen simulations. Yes, Craig Federighi's Face ID mishap in 2017 was embarrassing, but I prefer a live demonstration of something that's actually functional over a "concept of a feature".

I never use Stage manger on a regular basis as a 5 k display shows all windows same time, except for with laptop presentation using multiple app and needing a single app center for meetings with VTC setups. I am not alone with opinion.

From 2023

And that’s fine, you can have your opinion. But it is a subjective opinion, not an objective fact. In my opinion, Stage Manager is better than the traditional multitasking setup. You’re not alone in your opinion, and I’m not alone in mine…

More iOS 19 insight

The headline feature of iOS 19 (and iPadOS 19, macOS 15, tvOS 19, watchOS 19…) is said to be a massive change to the user interface. We’re talking about the biggest change since iOS 7, when Apple dropped the skeuomorphic design in favor of flat symbolic icons, changed the lock screen, notifications, and more.
We don’t know what this new interface will look like or what interaction changes it will bring with it, but the rumors say it is loosely based on some of the concepts in the Vision Pro interface. New apps like Apple Invites and Apple Sports may give us some clues to the interface conventions we can expect, as they don’t have interfaces that fit in with most of Apple’s older apps.

Please can we just choose to hide the Home Bar permanently?

I hope this is a “feature” in iOS 19.
If you’re talking about the App Dock, it can already be hidden. In Stage Manager settings, you can select to hide the App Dock.

I think they were talking about that thing.

Probable inclusions?

- The 'Apple Intelligence' umbrella marketing term will be dropped from all marketing. iOS19 will just contain 'AI-driven features'.
- Visual Intelligence will be available in the screenshot interface
- Gemini, Claude and others available as alternatives to GPT. Meta will, without a sense of irony moan Apple is being uncompetitive by not letting users choose Meta AI (which noboby wants)
- Apple will sidestep the Siri issues by letting you use Gemini or GPT as the backend if you wish instead of Cloud Compute if you're happy to sidestep privacy.
- Audio Playground app letting us record a sound or hum some music and have it transformed into a ringtone or alert. The Tone store will be shuttered. A 'hidden' Shazam backend will block the direct recording of copyrighted music.
- Spotlight and 'Ask Siri' merged on compatible devices

- Brand new 'Apple Music Store' app for purchase of just music. iTunes Store removed and branding shuttered across Apple products. Many blog articles on memories of iTunes incoming.

- Glassmorphic visual refresh along the lines of the Sports and Invitations app.
- Optional circular icon mask that uses on-device AI to fill in the gaps if devs have not modified them.
- White backdrop mono-colour icon option
- Translucent backdrop option on the dark icons. Rainbow gradient option on dark icon backdrop.
- Camera app visual refresh. Hopefully manual overrides (maybe Pro-model only)
- 2x1 and 4x1 widget options for devs.

- Improved AI object removal in Photos. Photo styles added to video. Search moved to the bottom of the screen.

- Stage Manager-esque 'WorkPlay' desktop display output added to USB-C iPhone models.
- iPhone capable of running iPad binaries on external display, no input from developers needed. User can pick it as an additional download upon installation.

- New AppleTV box/dongle for $30 that works as just a P2P Airplay server designed for use with WorkPlay-enabled phones. Plug in or pair Mouse and Keyboard and it instantly pairs to an attached phone.

I'm not convinced for one minute Apple will use Squircle shaped icons apeing the look of the Samsung launcher.

Yuck!

Maybe they'll squeeze in a fart mode...code they had in the car project copied over.

Apple wasn't the first?!

I think I might actually wait a little before updating to iOS 19. There are a couple apps on my phone I need to use for work, like Microsoft Authenticator and Okta Verify for signing in. Maybe I’ll wait until I get confirmation that those apps have no issues.

I know one thing for sure, I’m not doing a fresh install this year. I tried that with iOS 18, and it cause issues with my Authenticator.

I am thinking the same, need to use online banking working as usual!
But maybe I just use a work around and use the browser for online banking if the apps don’t work in iOS 19 beta 1 - it’s too tempting 🤣
But we will see after the keynote 🙏

Two weeks? Are we two weeks away from… oh no, I just took a glance at the calendar, and we’re still three weeks away from knowing the future design of iOS, iPadOS and macOS.

Still almost a month to see the biggest redesign of Apple’s main operating systems in 12 years.

I can wait. This time, and unlike other years, I will actively avoid any kind of spoiler.
