iOS 26 Speculation Thread

I haven’t read that anywhere, everything I’ve heard seems it’s on track for 26.4.

Some of the features, but I think they’re referring to this-

The report said Apple plans to announce additional Siri capabilities at WWDC in June, including…

  • Knowledge of past conversations
  • Proactive suggestions based on information from apps, such as Calendar
Those seem to be about personal context, no?

I read that some of the personal context stuff is coming in 26.4, but additional enhancements like on-screen awareness may be coming later. But maybe I misunderstood it. 👍🏻

Wouldn't be surprised today if not tomorrow. I would say if it doesn't come at the top hour, we could also see the window 3 hours later used as well. But I am heading into a meeting that I have to lead at the top of the hour, so I am sure it will come during that event 😎 LOL

I would not write off Fri as a public release day, but it's highly unlikely. So highly likely it's last call today for a public release this week. I for one hope for a 26.2.1 today. Monday is MLK day in the USA, I would not anticipate a update being released that day. Let's see what we get in a little while.

Of course, we might not ever get a 26.2.1 either........

How many more 26.3 betas are we expecting? I’m thinking, with it being a more minor update, we may just get a couple more betas for it before it goes public. If I’m remembering correctly, .3 updates often have less betas?

Yeah, Friday releases do happen. Are there any rumors of a 26.2.1 update?

PS, just looked it up, looks like one may be being internally tested for a release soon, so I’m going to guess either today or next week. 👍🏻
 
When are we expecting the first beta for 26.4?

PS, just looked it up, and looks like sources are expecting a late January or early February release for 26.3, and the first 26.4 betas should be available about the same time. I wonder if it will be the 28th or around then, considering that Apple Creator Studio launches then, and we’ll probably see new hardware drop around that time as well. 👍🏻
 
I’m thinking RC alongside new hardware next week, public release the week of the 26th, and then the first beta of 26.4 either later that week or the week after.

If this is the big one with all the new Siri/AI features then I’d imagine they’ll want it to be as thoroughly tested as possible.

Based on the pattern of past releases (which to the best of my knowledge hasn't been broken yet), the RC comes a week after both the dev and public beta are released on the same day. Since this has not been the case this week, I expect Beta 3 and not the RC to be released next week.

All I need to be happy with iOS again is an accessibility setting to make Liquid Glass look like one of these options. Please, Apple.

If we get the RC next week, I would say 26.2.1 is obviously off the table. The X factor that is throwing me for a loop is why Apple has done a X.X.1 for a couple cycles without release. Can't put my finger on why that would be happening.

In my experience, x.x.1 are generally bug and/or security fixes. If the bug is hard to fix and takes longer for some reason, and the feature update (x.1) ends up finishing first, than what value is there to releasing just the bug fix? It just ends up making more sense to release both in the same update.
