What we need is for them to stop breaking CarPlay every other beta.

If I recall correctly, the way they’ve handled this before is just adding any of the hardware specific identifiers and such in the finalized public version, and keeping them out of the RC beta. If that makes any sense. The final public version isn’t always exactly the same as the RC beta.

Wired CarPlay is still borked for me, but using a Wireless BlueTooth CarPlay dongle seems to work just fine, minus the audio cutouts from the BlueTooth dropping.. Would be great to get Wired CarPlay working for us again...

My 2024 Wrangler has both wired and wireless CarPlay. Wired is a mess, luckily wireless works mostly fine.

I used wired CarPlay in a rental, once, a couple of years ago. I would never buy a car with wired CarPlay, based on that experience; it was the most buggy thing I've ever seen. Wireless CarPlay in my wife's car has nowhere near as many issues.

It’s strange how there are so many people having just the opposite of this issue.
Damn these beta updates have been all over the place lately. Once Apple was like a clockwork and releases dropped at specific times.

Maybe it was an issue with the entertainment system of that particular brand of car. I've used carplay in at least 3 different vehicles from 3 different manufacturers and never have had an issue. Since I've been on the betas, i've used it in my 2019 Mazda 6 and my friend's 2020 Civic and it has worked flawlessly.
I only have wired in my car (2016) and it works great never an issue.

I don't remember the specific model -- just that it was a fairly recent Ford, if that tells you anything. What I ended up doing was defaulting back to standard Bluetooth, which worked fine in the Ford.
(It was basically one of the three options on the lot that was roughly equivalent to my Outback, which was in the shop for repairs -- paid for by somebody else's insurance. My Outback is a 2017, which means that it predates when Subaru added CarPlay to their lineup... so Bluetooth is what I use there, every day.)

My bet, if you let me speculate, is that at this point we won’t be having any 26.2.1, we’ll have 26.3 RC instead during next week, along with the hardware releases that will come with OS 26.3 preinstalled.
Yeah, it is going to be interesting since, allegedly, it will be the version that will finally incorporate the first iteration of the new Siri-Intelligence experience (with the help of Google), right?

Agree with your speculation about 26.2.1
Think as well that this update has been cut by Apple.
And yes, 26.4 will bring the Gemini powered Siri 🙂 curious which additional features are also included in this release and which features are shifted to later releases.
