When you’re going to accuse Apple of supposedly making up these features without them in development to maliciously swindle customers, etc. (cue eye roll, because that’s all these silly accusations deserve), then you should have evidence. Otherwise, it would be like me saying in an article published for thousands of people to read: “HouseLannister is a thief” (just an example, not saying you are 🙂), and then when people point out “woh there, where’s the evidence for that claim”, saying “well, it’s an opinion piece, so I can say whatever I want even if I don’t have evidence to back it up. The problem is, he has zero evidence to support his accusations towards Apple. And many readers will read that piece and assume he’s stating facts rather than opinions, especially since he doesn’t do a clear job of separating out his opinions from the actual facts and evidence. And his “opinion” actually contradicts the evidence we do have with sources from within Apple reporting on the progress of development of these features….
They still are going to ship these features as far as we’re aware, they’ve just been delayed. While delays can be disappointing, delays can happen. It’s just the way things work out sometimes…
His accusations that the more personal Siri improvements were somehow “vaporware” implies they don’t actually exist. He implies that several times throughout his screed, implying that Apple wasn’t even developing the features. But all of the evidence points to Apple is and has been developing these features, but just ran into some last-minute setbacks that caused them to have to delay the public release. Apple has used concept videos in the past to show other features not available yet in the first public beta of the new OS, that doesn’t mean they’re “vaporware”, it merely means they aren’t ready for the general public yet. Same here. Just because they aren’t available yet to the public doesn’t mean they don’t exist or aren’t in development…
The bottom line: if he’s going to throw accusations at a company in a publication read by thousands of readers, he should actually have evidence for his claims, and not only do his claims lack evidence, the evidence we do have contradicts his claims…
