Always feels like the OTA macOS update takes forever to roll out — everything else in my home has been updated already: Apple TV, HomePods, Apple Watch, iPhone… but still no macOS update yet
Usually, a good half hour.........or longer!

Agree, my Macbook Air is on the 26.4 RC and as of this post still isn't being prompted for today's release. It feels like when they drop, it takes upwards of an hour before I normally see it.

Already seeing the update on M4 Mac mini but I rather wait for the full installer

Edit: macOS full installer is up

The only rumors coming out are from Gurman who’s barely been right lately.

Changes that huge are very likely saved for iOS 27, which still works for the 2026 deadline given out by Apple.
Yeah, and Apple’s press release for WWDC26 specifically mentioned AI advancements. We could still see some Siri or Apple Intelligence improvements in 26.5, etc. but I wouldn’t be surprised if Apple releases the biggest stuff in 27 and that would give them more time to perfect it as well. 🙂👍🏻.

I guess we’ll find out soon enough. When are we expecting the first beta for 26.5? This week or next?

It could be either, but Apple often releases the first dev beta for next versions a day or two after public release of an iOS version. So I tend to think it could be this week. 👍🏻

I would say next week based on the fact that they released the updated build on the dev channel rather than their usual production only release. When people have to disable beta updates to get the latest build, it tends to point towards a really quick new release planned on the beta channel.

Good observation, thanks.
