This article from Wired (behind a Paywall unless you subscribe to Apple News) states that a spokesperson from Apple stated that updated to iOS 18 are coming today. Wondering if we may get something for iOS 26 as well.

I was wondering the same, I didn't have time to look it up but I wasn't sure if this was already patched for iOS 26.

It is already in place in 26, but wondering if they miight take the opportunity to fix the icloud synch problem that some were discussing in this thread, or other bugs we may not know about.

So, no fruits from the Google contract until June 8th (dev beta run, here we come), so it seems.. and it looks like there's a stand-alone Siri app in development

I wonder if there'll be a 'deep research' mode for it? Will extra tokens exist for iCloud+ subscribers? Or maybe that'll revamp as well..

I don't know, but iCloud photo syncing, translation, and private relay are experiencing very frequent crashes. I don't know if it's related to the iCloud bugs you mentioned, but I didn't experience these issues in the 26.4 betas. They only appeared in the public release.

Yeah, from an "Under the Hood" technical side of things, 26.4 should NOT have shipped at all. None of these issues were present in any of the betas, and now there's people literally wondering if they need to develop their own API and handle their own syncing, or if Apple is going to actually address it. The "fix" for that is already in beta 1 of 26.5, so it's really just Apple dragging their feet now. Hopefully they don't expect people to deal with this through an entire .point release cycle.. That's just stupid.

From a company like Apple, one would expect an immediate solution, but it seems they're in no hurry. They prefer that users experience problems with their services.

I'm just grateful that at least the issue is fixed in 26.5, whether they can/should/will back port it would almost imply they made a mistake though. Its rare in this day and age that people own up to their mistakes 😉

Well I speculate a revised 26.5 means we'll have the two week gap between beta 1 and 2. I also wouldn't be surprised to see a 26.4.1 next week to fix the iCloud sync issues if they haven't found a server side fix.

Since it isn’t all that unusual for Apple to not release a new beta the week after a semi-major holiday I’m kind of glad we at least got something extra beforehand. Here’s hoping for a good beta 2 whenever it comes.

Do you think it's possible that Apple will release a possible 26.4.1 this week?
I sure hope so! A bunch of fixes in the 26.5 beta that IMO should absolutely be ported to a 26.4.1 release just so they can actually worry about bigger issues. Some things can wait, but seeing too many iCloud related issues from other developers where this should have shipped last week..

Last year, iOS 18.4.1 was released two weeks after 18.4. Given this precedent, it's likely we'll see these iCloud solutions, which, incidentally, appear to be in the iOS 26.5 beta 1

Overall, iOS 26.4 isn't bad for me. My only problem is with iCloud; the services suddenly stop syncing or working as expected, and then they magically fix themselves. This wasn't experienced in the iOS 26.4 beta.

I've seen this type of behavior and on my iPad I get redraw issues on the home screen. I hope if they do a 26.4.1, they take a moment to fix more then just the iCloud bugs. I would speculate though that we will see a 26.4.1 this week. But being that it hasn't shown up in any website logs, etc, I am afraid this would be emergency for iCloud specifically and not include other fixes.

Here's some more insight into the iCloud issues with 26.4...

It’s the stuttering and random lag that pisses me off, haven’t had issues otherwise.

I have seen in the article that iOS 26.4.1 has been detected that tomorrow is the last day to comply with Brazilian legislation regarding alternative stores. If this is so, it is likely that it will even be released later today.

According to AI,

Apple is required to allow alternative app stores in Brazil, and there is effectively a deadline, but it’s not a single fixed calendar date written into law. Instead, it’s tied to a regulatory settlement timeline.

Apple had a settlement Dec 23, 2025 where they had 105 days to comply. Math wise, that is tomorrow April 7th.
