iOS 27 Adds a Useful New Copy-and-Paste Feature to Your iPhone

This was a good opportunity to add a clipboard manager, but apple missed it.

Just add a copy-paste button within the entire grey space at the bottom... Don’t make it too sensitive, to avoid accidental clicks when swiping up, but do utilize this whole empty space for those who wants it, it’s not that complicated...

Make a feedback on beta I will happily make similar suggestion force them to do that

How about a whole new keyboard that works as well as Gboard on Android??

I have a Pixel 10 Pro XL at work for testing. The keyboard is SOOOO much better than an iPhone keyboard. Slightly bigger keys, number row, awesome tactile feedback, a down carrot to pull down the keyboard at anytime, dragging across they spacebar to move the cursor in ANY app.

It makes the the iPhone keyboard looks so bad.

As much as I love Apple, I have to agree.

How about just being able to paste a new contact's photo, rather than first having to save it in your Photos and then open Photos to select it?

Only certain types of pasta. I understand linguini for whatever reason isn’t supported.

Copy/Paste sucks on iOS. Remember when after like 5 years, they introduced Copy/Paste as a new feature because they "wanted to get it right?" and the solution was: you tap on the selected word, it brings up a menu, and you press "copy". Wow, that took them 5 years to figure out.

It hasn't changed since then. But if you look at the screenshot, there is a ton of unused space below the keyboard. Why not just put a copy and paste button there?

Yep. I end up "washing" text sometimes by pasting into Drafts (which is plain text / Markdown), and then copying/pasting from there. But, multiple steps.

As an Android user, now moving to iPhone and ipad, the keyboard is a huge downgrade. Copy paste is bizarrely difficult to do on Apple.

while they don't have it, they hide this feature behind a gesture: when cursor is active in a text input field, THREE FINGERS SINGLE TAP the screen. a flyout clipboard bar will appear, containing the paste button.
never documented, this feature exists since ios f.cking 13!!! and I only learned about it about a year ago...

maybe he has a carrot with a genetic condition caused by having an extra full or partial copy of chromosome 21. ?

Yeah, pretty sure they meant a downwards-facing (upside-down) version of a caret (the symbol "^").

In the 150,000+ symbols in the Unicode standard, the closest to such a thing would be:

⍱ - APL FUNCTIONAL SYMBOL DOWN CARET TILDE (U+2371)​

Or, just a lowercase "v".

A clipboard buffer is one of the things I miss most in iPadOS and iOS. There are too many apps that don't allow you to go back and forth to copy and paste from multiple fields, such as when using the "share" features that pull up a blocking interface that doesn't let you go back and copy multiple things without losing your entered data.

It shouldn't have to come to this, but it's surprising how well it works to press the sequence for screenshot, then tap on the screenshot in the corner, hit the little text icon, select and copy whatever test you want, and then dismiss the screenshot with the "X" in the corner so it never goes to Photos.

The under the hood and CoreAI/FM stuff is actually really nice when paired with Apple Silicon will be very innovative, and the shape of their APIs is so good finally, but UI/UX wise, I continue to be amazed what is counting as "innovative". Android GBoard has had this for at least 4-5 years.

Apple have always touted themselves as innovative, especially when they include features Android has had for many years before Apple adopted it. Yet, when they market their "new" feature, they're somehow the first to do it. Go figure.

I did not find it to be so. Everything I did copied all kings of extraneous stuff. The Evernote feature copied the core information on the website and left out the cruft.
