It’s not about whether indexing is still ongoing. It’s about being transparent with a message that merely says “if you experience any reduction in battery life, it’s not you.”I have a very minimal Apple footprint these days. iPad and iPhone. iCloud is basic backup only. No messages or photos. Yet I installed B1 on day 1 and when B2 came out it was still indexing. Why? I can make a couple of educated guesses. Was the ongoing indexing having an effect on functionality that would affect bugs I reported?
IMO, tell us instead of half assed headlines. Transparency? No. Confusion? Yes.
Beyond the initial 48 hours, it didn’t have any noticeable effect on battery life either. And yet, people still kept posting about it every couple of hours. They were so obsessed with it that they started polluting the b1 thread.
Hide that message, and people are relieved that indexing is done and the world started making sense again. This just proves that for 90% of Apple users, ignorance is indeed bliss. And Apple was in the right to take that away.
Could’ve been a bug that the message was persistent for so long or something else but Apple definitely learned a lesson with this one. The customer doesn’t need to know every little thing if it doesn’t affect them.
