iOS 27 Beta 4 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

Alright I wish I had been taking screenshots or documenting this, but every iOS version for as long as I can remember, I’ll just periodically run Speedometer 3.1 just to see how different iOS versions run.

Running a base iPhone 17:

On iOS 26, best I ever saw was around ~38.

iOS 27 DB3 I was very surprised to see a 46.

iOS 27 DB4 I just got a 49.2!

That’s a +29% improvement from the public release of iOS 26 to a BETA in July and my phone is still indexing Siri, which could make this even better once it finishes…

Apple is not messing around here, and I am very happy this is the work they are putting in. Absolutely incredible.

Been over an hour and still can’t install it!

I had the same issues on iPhone 17 Pro Max and my M4 iPad Pro I ended up just getting the IPSW and use my MacBook to install the beta

AutoCorrect keeps going out to lunch on me in messaging apps. Completely stops fixing things such as punctuation in contractions or misspelled words.

They said it would be from the outset. It's a performance and refinement and QoL update, not a groundbreaking major release with hundreds of new features. I don't know how or why anyone expected any different.

I always saw this keyboard pasting feature from other apps but it just didnt showed up for my keyboard. Any specific setting need to turn on ? My siri AI is already on if it tagged with siri btw

Beta 4 and onwards typically only include minor features with the rest of the changes focusing on bug fixes and technical improvements. I wouldn't expect any major UI changes and fixes with Beta 5 and later. It's likely the next set of UI changes, if any, will come when the 27.1 beta drops after the full release of 27.0.

Second, this indexing seems mostly tailored for the new Siri and Spotlight UI, neither of which are available to a huge portion of users (like in Europe). Yet, those same users are still burdened with days of background indexing and extra storage taken up by the larger index files.

Performance on both iPhone 17 Pro and iPad Pro M5 is…..just incredible.

While B2 (the first I used) had already been far better than and 26.x version, B4 is again in a completely different league.

And that with all the additional logging that comes with Beta releases. 😱

I don‘t see an issue here.
The indexing doesn‘t seem to create any hit on performance or battery life, so why bother?

It‘s just the message in the settings.
It‘s good that it‘s there, as in previous versions you (as a technically involved user) couldn‘t tell when or if indexing was complete after an update.
But if it confuses people, Apple could just remove the indicator to …. „solve“ this problem. 😉
