iOS 27 Introduces New 'iPhone Handoff' Feature

I just wish there was a way to have 2 iPhones fully sync'd with respect to apps, pics, messages, etc (kinda like having multiple AppleTV's in the same house all sync'd up). Plus the ability to have my Apple Watch 11 pair and switch seamlessly between 2 iPhones without needing to fully wipe and setup.

Finally! yes! been wanting this for a long time. Now my OCD analysis paralysis will be put to good use…. fold today?? nah, haven’t carried the Air in a while…. am i doing jeans or shorts? cargoes go with the Pro Max fine…..prolly go air on jeans day tomorrow… but sometimes i got to carry the fold cause i spent all that money and have a payment…..and i have to remember to unfold it once in a while just cause i paid for that….but i’m hanging with less affluent friends, so 16e and jorts it is! *combs mustache and tussles mullet*

This will be great for biking. I can keep an old, crappy iPhone for riding and tracking my rides, and still be able to communicate, and can leave my premium phone at home.

I bet our Canadian telco mafia wont support this, or without charging extra.

Now they need to make an iPhone Nano so you can have that and an Ultra or Max and swap between them. Sometimes the Max is just too big, or maybe you're going running or to the beach.

Peeps are looking in the wrong direction, while it could be used for another phone, just think if all devices have the ability to use this shared eSim - macs, pads, etc. All devices now have the Phone app in there for handoff....

It’s a shame some sort of ‘eSIM sharing’ can’t be done in the UK with regards to Apple Watch. My main number is on eSiM in the UK via a MVNO operator that provides excellent coverage and tariff. However if I want an Apple Watch with cellular I have to go to one of the just four main network providers @3x the cost PLUS further ££s for the Watch SIM.
This would more than triple my monthly bill for the same coverage.
It’s ridiculous in UK.

I’m the use case sucker. I’ll be using both the 18 Pro Max and the Fold together. The Pro Max as my “camera” and durable phone, the Fold for everything else.

That makes some sense, if you think of the Fold as an iPad equivalent. It would be handy to be able to make carrier-based calls from my iPad without having my phone nearby.

I would love to have an iPhone 13 mini for the weekends and the upcoming ultra for weekdays. I love the idea of having a small phone that I am less tempted to use when I am with my family and away from work. That said, this probably won't come to the 13 mini in which case I have no use for it. 😆

Even the 12 mini supports iOS27, and from what I've read, even speeds things up a bit, so your 13 should be fine. I'm considering an ultra/mini handoff too, but will probably just rock this properly sized phone til the wheels fall off.

They're clearly setting things up for you to actually buy two iPhones. Like a Pro & Air combo, or Pro & Fold.

You could totally repurpose an old phone (provided it can run iOS 27) as a “beater” or lightweight phone for some situations. If I had my old 13 Mini around still, I’d totally pop that into my jacket for a night going out to dinner.

This. Curious if Apple has implemented a way alongside this to pair your Apple Watch to the secondary phone because that would be a big miss if they haven't figured it out.

They should let Watches tether to iPads too and float amongst the internet connected  devices so long as they're on the same AppleID.

Use case: do not buy a second phone, but use your newest iPhone as normal, with all your apps, everything. Keep an older iPhone that is your knockaround phone: just phone number, music, maybe email. No passwords, banking, work apps. Very useful for a day at the beach, traveling, out for a run...

My wife has a 17 pro max as well as my old 12 mini that she loves to use at work and when travelling, but only one SIM card in the 12 mini. She would love this.

There must be some kind of carrier involvement for a cloned sim (sim matching imei etc) so I'm guessing with carriers involved they'll no doubt refuse to support separate additional revenue streams, nah can't see that happening!😂

I know Apple doesn't want to step on the carriers' toes, but still hoping someday they'll offer a way to "park" your number with Apple and then just use data plans (that are number agnostic) to run talk, text, and data.

Numbers being "locked" to a specific carrier (and requiring porting to move) is a huge lock-in that increases price and decreases competition. Having numbers be more independent of carrier plans would be massive.

Well, until Apple has their own telecom company, that’s just a wish and a prayer. Without the telecoms, who own the platform in which those numbers are used, then you wouldn’t have a phone number.

I work on cars and trucks a lot, sometimes mobile, and I need to take pictures of things in wheel wells, under hoods, in muddy areas. I kept an old iPhone SE for a long time because I drop that phone dozens of times while using it.

Now I've upgraded to a 17 Pro Max, and it's awesome for daily use and taking pictures, but I hate using it while working on cars and my hands are covered in brake fluid, oil, or coolant. Being able to have an active "beater" phone that I can use to make calls, iMessage, and sync photos would be really, really nice, and the second el cheapo phone would pay for itself by keeping my my 2 thousand dollar primary phone in great shape.
