They should be totally embarrassed and ashamed at how much they copied iOS. Full stop.

In saying that.. I can’t blame the engineers. Their government is forcing them to do it. I suppose if my life and family was at threat for showing hesitation etc… I’d be forced into it as well. Hopefully that crap stays banned in as many territories as possible. Hopefully India and other nations can completely steal the thunder away from the CCP.
That shows what an isolated world you live in...

The same things from every year:

- Overhaul notifications and control centre for better one handed access by making better use of the multitasking screen.

Have notifications sat in a stack at the bottom of that view ready to fan upwards like on the lock screen.

Move control centre to the RH side of the card stack.

On the lock screen get rid of the slide to open gesture for the camera and put the control centre in its place.

iPhones now have 8GB and 12GB of RAM but it doesn't feel like it. Apple should, as well as app developers, optimize their apps to use as little memory as possible while keeping the same functionality.
History proves that more memory and increased storage just leads to lazier development and bloat. Kind of like when you finally buy that standalone chest freezer because you are struggling to fit everything in the refrigerator's freezer. Fast forward two weeks and that chest freezer is full too.

Mostly I just want a steady refining of iOS without falling for ‘gimmick of the day’ style development. However, one specific thing I do want is I would like to see landscape home screens now that iPhones are all big enough.

Also, it’s time for Siri to get up to speed. I don’t want a digital assistant chat bot, but they seem really popular, so it’s important to get it sorted ASAP.

  • A functional digital assistant
  • Choice of 3rd party AI - Gemini, Claude, Perplexity integrations
  • An actual icon picker
  • Custom launcher support
  • Settings to tune animation speed (iPhones feel so slow compared to Android just because of the animations)
  • An actual dock on iOS--more than 4 icons, magnification, auto-hide, short swipe to bring it up while staying within your current app (longer swipe to home screen or swipe and hold for home and find some other gesture for the task switcher)
  • Notification history
  • Clipboard history
  • Encrypted RCS and the ability to edit RCS chats
  • Toggle for App Library to be the alpha sort by default instead of an additional gesture
  • Make the App Library alpha sort flow like the watchOS list view
  • Ability to rename/remove app category names in App Library and move apps between categories
  • Ability to rename (nickname) apps
  • Split-screen apps on iOS
  • Ability to set a color for notification dots that override clear or tinted icons so there is a bit of pop to make them more noticeable
  • Get rid of the silly jelly wiggle when editing the home screen
  • Turn off the annoying waveform animation in dynamic island
  • Dynamic island press action defaulted to the long-press action like it always should have been
  • Put the + button for a new calendar event in the bottom right so it matches the UI of the Reminders app (consistency!)
  • Ability to edit icons for Safari Favorites
  • Copy the Circle to Search gesture on Android (might remove Type to Siri, but it's a much better way to use that bottom area for a gesture - and much better than highlighting in a screenshot)
  • Gesture to swipe on an icon to invoke long-press options or open the widget instead of the app
  • Big widgets on the home screen - give me that Today View screen there
  • Bring back Dark Sky UI to that ugly Weather app
  • Stop putting ugly pinstripes on dark widgets and go back to iOS 18 widgets (Reminders and Calendar widgets are awful now)
  • Get rid of Liquid Glass (I know I won't get it, but this is my wishlist)
Can’t agree with that last one sadly, I just love Liquid Glass, most of the other ones are solid or irrelevant for me personally but I really would like Dynamic Island to be switched (ie: long press opens music app and tap opens the drop down for now playing)

You can't expect it to do things that it can't handle, for instance, what might be included with HyperOS 4.0 or ColorOS 17.

i would love a better way of moving apps into folders, like a way to do it in the settings app, clicking the app and choose what folder the app will reside in.

I’d like to see customisation of double and possibly triple tap of the action button.

Would be nice to hold for silent/ring and then double-tap for flashlight for example.

And an option for getting rid of that floating bar on top of the keyboard that invariably floats over whatever you’re typing so you can’t see anything.

EDIT: I will post my thoughts for OS 27 upon thinking of exactly what I have to think.

Revert to iOS 6 and end this utter garbage.

No

Basically give me back iOS 18.
No and the only people who want something like this is a small amount of Tahoe Users who have upgraded from Sequoia who now regret this decision because of no Firewire support

iPadOS 18 multitasking system as a multitasking option.
🤦‍♂️

1. It was limited back then and only the A12X and later Pros and the M1 Air had this feature
2. All iPadOS 18 devices besides the 7th generation iPad got OS 26 so no point
3. Split Screen view is coming back to iPads with OS 26.1

I haven’t updated my 15 PM to iOS 26 yet, and I’m not sure if i ever gonna do it.

BUT YOU MUST…. for one thing…. Adaptive Power Mode.

Switching Bluetooth off “until I need it” is a pain in the arse and not acceptable. Apple should fix their ****** software.

l

THIS. 100% THIS. just deactivating WiFi/BT ( they think it’s fully turned off via control center when they don’t know that it isn’t) and turning on Cellular ( since I see people do all 3 of them at once ) not only obviously drains the battery but is a big part of the reason that contributes to Battery Capacity being drained over time

But besides this I HATE having to do this through settings.

This dumb****ery of a setting is a considerable part of the reason why iOS 11 sucked. The last good iPhone/iPad which you could fully turn off Wi/Fi/Bluetooth was the A10X Pro’s when that got iOS 10.

If Apple gives us this ability to turn off WiFi/Bluetooth in a future OS 26 update then it will make the XS/XR/7th gen iPad more redundant ( more the XS/XR because of they’re smaller 500 cycle count batteries and the fact that they could have gotten iOS 26
Improve stability and battery life.

Battery life yes for the 15/14 Pro and under. 15 Pro/16/e and so forth have adaptive power mode which helps a lot with this

I assume you mean when using the control centre, as it is of course very easy to turn both those things on/off. You can simply ask Siri, or long-press on settings and select the one you want to toggle.

Or, create a shortcut which toggles WiFi and/or Bluetooth on/off and add that to the control centre.

No I want to turn off WiFi/BT exactly how it was supposed to through the control centre before iOS 11 changes things

It’s super annoying to do this via settings. It’s weird that you can turn on WiFi/BT through control centre but you can’t fully turn them off in Control Centre but you can fully turn Cellular off from CC

Not sure what you’re talking about. The multitasking system I want back as an option has been in iPads for almost a decade and was not limited to any certain models iirc.

The only way around it, considering Apple seems to think everyone wants Bluetooth on all the time (I guess for Find My / Airtags?) is to remove that stock widget from the CC and add your own shortcuts. Create two - one called Bluetooth and one called WiFi with only one action in each - to toggle the respective thing. Then put those as icons on your CC.

The downside of this is that, without doing something clever, the shortcut icons don't give any hint as to what state your Bluetooth or WiFi are in. My solution was to leave the 2x2 stock widget in the CC and simply use it for the glowing icons showing status.

Huh? What? We are talking about iOS, not macOS. There is no shortage of users here who dislike iOS 26. And I am sure there are more than a small amount of users who dislike Tahoe for more substantial problems than support for archaic hardware.

You misunderstood me, or I didn’t explain well.

I want and NEED Bluetooth enabled constantly.

I wear Bluetooth hearing aids. If Bluetooth isn’t enabled I can’t make or receive phonecalls.

But there’s a whole bunch of apps that I don’t EVER want or need to activate Bluetooth. When they activate Bluetooth they **** up my hearing aids.

Browsers I want better control over using Bluetooth. Sometimes I want to listen to videos in a browser. Mostly I don’t. But I want the choice there.
