So before doing this I have a few questions. Is this changing the OS in anyway or just adding a feature that is already there, still on iOS 4.3? Also do I need to worry when upgrading past iOS 4.3.

You get it free by downloading it from the Apple developer website. You don't have to be a registered payed developer just be in the program.

Yes it is super easy. The only reason to actually pay for it is if you are going to submit apps you made. Go to developer.apple.com/Xcode.

So I'll correct myself. It turns out that Xcode 3 is free on Apple's developer website, Xcode 4 you must pay the $99 for the full membership or $5 from the Mac App Store. You may be able to do this in Xcode 3 but I don't know.

yup, Gr8tfly's post about his thoughts on the gestures are exactly the problems they have.Have to admit, it's a great way to show off your iPad

I am using gestures on the iPad 2 as well, really liking it so far.
