sync with gmail's calender and you can get email alerts and text message alerts. Anymore I like email alerts as they are not as annoying.

Alerts are supposed to be annoying by definition so they get your attention and keep you from missing appointments.

Well, I just got up and running on GM 4.0. I have to say that after all the nice updates and features, one of the most basic (and often most asked for) is missing.

What I really need is a 'locked' home screen that allows me to show information from my Calendar, etc. I can't tell you how many birthdays, and other important dates I've missed by not knowing about them, and the alternative is to check the Calendar every single day, but this gets redundant and is an extra task that doesn't need to happen is iOS had a proper Home screen.

Seriously... I need to email Steve about this.

The most basic feature of an iPhone is to be able to make calls. The next is to play music and browse the web.

true. I started using gmail's calender instead of the alarm to remind me to take my pills and such. because with the alarm if you have the phone in one room it keeps going off over and over. so you may silence it before you do what needs done to get away from the noise. but the email just sits there and I always see my emails. that way I don't have to use snooze but I still see I have not done what needs to be done till I delete the email.
say I get the alarm to take my pills but I am a hour from home hitting snooze or having repeats on the calender get annoying. but the email will just sit there and I will see it when I get home on my computer or phone.

seriously, with everything that was introduced people are still complaining. WTF??

An information screen on the locked home screen is about 4 versions too late. A list of notifications should have been part of the original push notification release. It's not complaining, it's requesting features that should have been their from the start.

The only major feature I'd like to see is the ability to change the email notification sound, not just turn it on/off. I've sent requests to apple.com/feedback and to sjobs@apple.com but didn't hear anything back from either. ;)

^ Actually, Steve hasn't responded to ONE of my messages ever since that effing ****** blogger got SJ P.O'd after their IM session got posted online.

You ruined it for us all, you dumb ****, Ryan Tate!!

Not having lock info and bitesms is one of the biggest reasons I'm kinda worried about upgrading. The quick reply for bitesms is crucial for me, although with this new type of multi tasking, I think that quick texting may be possible. All I know is I hated getting a text in the middle of surfing the web, and having to close what I was doing to answer back over and over. With bitesms, I can text and surf the net freely. If my 3gs had a better screen, I doubt I would upgrade right now. But, having a great screen to watch movies and video clips is very important to me considering how much I really use my phone. More battery life sounds good aswell. There are a lot of upside to the new phone, that I think it's worth the upgrade. I think we will see a jailbreak for it too, just a matter of time. I doubt I'll upgrade to the 5th iPhone though.

iPhone could do that?

All my important dates and appointments pop up with a notification as far in advance as I set them to in my calendar.

I didnt know my sexy iPhone could do that. How do I setup that stuff. Damn I sound like a rookie here.(3 years usingthe iPhone. Original iPhone n 2 years with the 3g)

OP, I just went to birthdayalarm.com an year or so ago, and manually added the birthday's anniversaries and important days and even holidays of everyone I know.

Best decision I made. It sends me an email a week or so before the day basically giving me a heads up to buy a present or whatever. And it sends me another email at 11:30 pm the night before, so I remember to call the person the next day.

Also OP, Email Steve Jobs.

Sjobs@apple.com

You have a higher chance of getting these things implemented than you do by posting them here. :D
Just emailed him and told him that I have a crisp $20 bill with his name on it if he adds 'Snooze' to iPhone reminders.

I think it's too good of an offer for him to pass up.
