One of the things im looking forward to most other than the new notification system is imessages. It would be useful to just be able to send text messages from my ipad if i'm using it at the time instead of taking out my iPhone.

I have a question about it though. Say I'm texting another iPhone user from my iPhone, because that would use imessage are those texts going to also come up on my iPad?

I'm guessing for notifcation center where you get alerts that apple will update all the apps like sportscenter otherwise surely you won't get those alerts?

judging from what I have seen yes

looks like anything imessage related will all appear on the ipad.

It puts all notifications in the NC (unless off in settings) so apps don't need to be updated. It works wonderfully.

Ugh I was afraid of that. Hopefully there is a setting that will allow you to toggle which device you want/dont want them coming up on.
iMessage basically keeps them in sync but there is a setting that allows you to change what email addresses can receive iMessages on the device. Not sure that would help.

Do you have the sportscenter app? if so does it work well?

OH WOW, I totally forgot about that. That can be annoying, they need something smaller

I'm guessing the iPhone 5 will have some sort of less bright led notification when it comes out! I have seen patents for LEDs under the glass i think for notifications which would be awesome!

I totally agree with you on that one, an LED under the screen would be awesome!

I believe there is something in settings that can make sure you don't have to not send to certain e-mail addresses.

Gotcha. I'm not using the iOS 5 beta so maybe I don't have a good grasp on the entire concept. I was under the impression phone numbers were used in imessage, but then again how could that be if its also running on iPads and iPods. I'll figure it out in the Fall! haha.

You can use phone numbers on iPhone only. All devices can use email addresses. You can pick ad choose for each device.

One doubt: does reading list save the web page for offline viewing? I thought it did but now I think it doesnt, and that it just works like favourites.

Does someone know?

i notice sometimes text alerts stop working.. i have to reboot to get them to popup on the screen, otherwise the sms icon just updates but no sound or notifcation happens

i just found out that u can swipe to right in the camera app to acess the camera roll. swipe back to the left to go back to the camera app. wicked!

When syncing, the progress of songs is shown in the music app.

Newsstand

I noticed that in all the promotional pictures of Newsstand they show both the iPhone and iPad versions as having the same content on the shelves - even for The Daily, which is only iPad compatible. I hope that all publications become accessible across both devices like iBooks is now. That would be handy on the subway in the morning when I don't want to draw attention to myself by whipping out my iPad. Especially since the newspaper apps will be offline and I actually *can* read them on the subway now. Can't wait to see how this is actually going to work.

This might be a problem since the BB Playbook has this already. Maybe the home button should light up with a multi color option.
