notifications in the time-bar at top

I like the new notification window shade and the funtionality...

Question-- do we have to work the window shade to see what's within OR will we see the number of texts, VMs, emails, etc in the bar at top of screen (near the clock) to alert us?

thanks

actually i'm right, he specifically said Cropping, not pinch to zoom. they're 2 different functions, both of which were mentioned in the Keynote.

nope, doubt it will be working until official release.

mine's now got a male voice talking back as opposed to female! that surprised me the other morning!!
actually he had said both but either way it's pointless his question has been answered.
No "pinch zooming" nor croping in camera

one thng I'd like to add, does anyone actually use the stocks app? Why does apple continue to try to push an app that (as it seems to me) no one really uses? Just a thought, also can you get rid of the stocks widget in the notification center?

It can be removed from the notifications pane.

Newsstand shows up in the recent app multitasking tray though  That's more than likely a bug, but Newsstand is an app made to look like a folder. And I it bugs me that Newsstand is one word.

Interestingly, if you click on Newsstand in itunes, it'll open up just like regular folder. You can even edit the name, but it wont sync back the iPhone though, nor can you do anything with it. :/

as has been mentioned in here and other threads, Newsstand is a folder, you're unable to put a folder in a folder, so this is not a surprise

That doesn't mean it doesn't suck or that some of us would have rather they implemented it differently (like they could have implemented it like ibooks so you open the app to read your magazines and then you could just stick that app in the do not use folder if you don't have magazine subscriptions).

Yes (first thing I did). Can't remember the exact steps, but it's in the notification settings. Just poke around and you'll find it.

perfect, I personally find the stocks app pointless. Also I would rather have Facebook integration then twitter, as I never use twitter.

next question is, if I am using the non-developer way to install IOS5 will I be able to use my phone capabilities? I have heard you can't but I want to double check.

yeah and they could make it a free download via app store, that way those of us who don't read magazines on our phones aren't stuck with a "useless" folder

There's a lot of twitter people that don't use Facebook, if it was the other way round, we'd have them complaining, so its swings and roundabouts. Plus with the Facebook slot next to twitter in contacts, they may have intended to, but like with ping, Facebook denied it. Funny how everyone blames apple and not Facebook.

As for newsstand, do what we used to do with stocks before folders and hide it on a random last home screen

I don't use Facebook but I like twitter, so iOS 5 is perfect for me.
Newsstand is nothing that interests me at the moment. I don't buy subscriptions or magazines of any kind, so I would want to delete it (but I can't).

I don't really blame apple for using twitter, but I also kind of do I don't know I am just annoyed that twitter clientele will be on my phone when I'd prefer it if Facebook had not been knobs and allowed apple to implement Facebook integration. As for newsstand, and some of apples apps stocks included I wish we could just toggle them on and off in settings, that would be great.

those are my thoughts anyways.

Twitter isn't installed or enabled by default, so you won't notice it at all.

i'd like to ditch stocks and maybe newsstand, but we can't so just gotta hide them for now

Some new stuff when using bt keyboard that i found:

eject pops up the onscreen keyboard
copy & paste works
cmd + space (switch keyboards)

edit:

you can evan wake your iphone from the bt keyboard and unlock it by entering the passcode

I found a feature and a bug?

Back in the 3.x days you could hold the shutter button down and auto focus in the camera app. With ios 5, you can't do so using the shutter button like iOS 4, but by using the volume up button to take a pic you can

Ex: hold volume up in camera app, tap screen to focus. Release volume up to take pic. I always liked this feature before they took it away. Hopefully in the final build theyll include it

Weird. Mine's still female but definitely more refined/clearer sounding.

I still want the option to make voice over calls automatically start as speaker phone calls when not using a headset. And for the speaker to be louder (it's great for data based voice like Skype or FaceTime but not normal calls).

Both of these work in iOS 4.3.

What we need is a way to switch between apps with a BT keyboard!
