iPod not working on my iPhone 4 either, after ota. Haven't tried resyncing yet. Just noticed when I got in the car this morning. Very upsetting! But kinda glad I'm not alone.

Well at least I'm not the only one. I just got a new MacBook Pro so I haven't loaded my music to this computer yet to try and resync... fantastic timing -_- hopefully this gets fixed fast it kinda defeats the purpose of the iPhone...

The iPhone's purpose is not to be only an MP3 player...

It was in the release notes as known issue that came along with the latest update.

It's a non issue, hardly worth discussing... I don't understand all the grief...

I had the same issue on both my iPhone and iPad and solved it by first deleting all music from my devices and resyncing with iTunes.

Was just about to make a thread about this. Worse than beta 1 so far. Pretty shameful that this is regressing
You've obviously never worked in software. :)

Sometimes, to make things better, you first have to tear them down. (And this is a beta, not intended for consumer use. Why complain here when you can be filing Radars?)

Just an FYI, here's how you fix it:

  1. Sync your phone
  2. Sync and remove all of the music from you phone
  3. Resync it all back onto your phone

Had the same issue so I just removed the music from it and synced it wirelessly back onto my phone while I napped.

On the positive side.
Those that had the OTA update crash on them got to re-sync all of their music anyway.

Oh wait....
:D

QFT, can't be said enough times.

Beta cycles are for them hashing out bugs, they fix some things, break others, playing whack a mole until they get less and less towards release.

Those complaining are obviously using as primary device (as am I) but if you don't like it, there is always 4.3.x.

lol. not even mad. just responding to a post. The OP doesn't even seem like a complaint. Confirming a bug with fellow product and beta users is not complaining.

I can never come into a beta thread around this place without seeing some pompous dick say some ******** like this. This place seriously needs to grow up. Jesus.

It's funny because everyone should know by now that every single OTA update always breaks something, for example photos still hasn't been fixed when doing the OTA update with any beta so far. But if you're not using the beta to help look for bugs, why use OTA then? Might as well just do a full restore whenever a new beta comes out, then you won't have the hassle of dealing with all the bugs OTA creates.

Want to hear something strange?

The update caused all of my music to no longer play, even though it all appears in the list. I click on it, it tries to open it, then immediately goes back to the list.

But here's the strange part...

I added a single track yesterday about 5 hours before I downloaded the update by syncing with iTunes. Now, that one track will play, but none of the others. Weird.

Anyway, I'm resyncing my music now, and thanks to all who suggested the fix.

Yes, we all realize it is a beta. How could we forget when the douchebags keep repeating the same line every 2 posts? That doesn't mean you can't be helpful and help people solve problems. Thanks to those who are doing just that.

With each Beta I have always followed the same procedure.

Deleted the existing back up from iTunes.

Downloaded the ipsw file.

Put iPhone into DFU mode.

Restored.

Set up as a new phone.

Never had any problems other than those expected with Beta software.

Beta 7 is superb, the error I got with iTunes when trying to sync using USB after enabling wireless syncing has gone. It now works flawlessly, and in my opinion Beta 7 is fit for day to day use.

I honestly don't know what some people do with these things to make such an arse of a simple install.

It's not strange, it was in the release notes on the dev site before running the update.

It's a documented non issue, there was no 'problem' to be solved by forum discussions. All the talk is annoying as Apple addressed it upon release...

You might consider it strange if you had read my entire post instead of just the first part. The fact that my songs weren't playing weren't the strange part. I guess you can't be bothered to read something, though, just respond with a snarky post.

Anyway, thanks to those who suggested unchecking, syncing, checking, and resyncing as it solved my issue as well.

Again, I reiterate, that those who are willing to help are wonderful human beings. I really don't understand why everyone else doesn't just ignore the posts and walk away.

for the trolls/miserable gits that lurk here quoting its beta wait till it releases officially, this is a non constructive answer , I am a registered developer and have accounts for many developer beta projects ,i come here to see what problems many experience and use that info whether its right or wrong I often come across issues that don't appear elsewhere .

have a nice day and if it helps it did some good if it didn't help then it goes deeper and needs more constructive solutions .

Whiners about Beta being the worst _____ Fill in the blank, IMHO don't deserve help. I think that is the point of people whom you call trolls. In posts where an adult question/problem is asked about generally there isn't the flood of posts you describe. If you are a IOS dev, have you experienced negative app reviews from Beta users??

IMO, Apple really needs to block that, ASAP!

I've had no issues so far with music app and have used it all morning. However I had to restore and resync all my music to get to Beta 7 since OTA update left my iPhone in recovery mode.

iPod (rather, Music and videos apps) works fine for me but it crashes whenever I try to delete a content (e.g., podcast, movie).

There are two kinds (maybe three) of people. The first is the group that makes an observation about something being broken and possibly comment on it that it is annoying it doesn't work anymore. Nothing wrong with that, it IS annoying it doesn't work anymore, but you know something like that can happen, so just accept it.

Then there's the group that complains about the fact that it is now broken and that Apple messed up their device and blame Apple for not being able to do what they want anymore. Those people are usually the ones without a legit developer account and run iOS 5 on their primary device (which I do too, but I won't complain about Apple breaking my device in case I lose stuff/functionality), and that is the group that's really frustrating.

And then, I guess, there is also a group of people who really only installed iOS 5 on their developer devices, and couldn't care less about the music not playing anymore. Chances are they don't have any music on it anyway.
