Just remember if you install the GM, you'll likely need to do a Restore to the official public release before being able to apply any later updates. Really not a big deal, but something to remember if you can't wait until the official availability in 8 days.

Ummm I don't think so.

Yup, you will have boot the device into DFU (home and power button at the same time until iTunes USB graphics appear) to upgrade from iOS 5 beta. Just finished updating my iPad 2. On to iPhone 4.

Wait what? If its the same exact thing the public is getting on the 12th why would we need to restore?

wrong.

the GM release has had the same build as the public release (in previous years).

don't post if you don't know what you are talking about.

I have iOS 5 beta 6 (or 7? I don't remember) on my iPad... if I do OTA update, will it give me GM?

Does anyone know if iTunes beta 9 will work with it? I know it says beta 7...but I am just wondering

Also wondering this. Was going to install one of them but would rather just install 9.

Anyone confirm install on the iPhone using iTunes beta 9? I would ASSUME it would work..

Yeah me too. Trying to read more, but I can't get logged in to my dev account. The servers must be hammered.

Generally correct, but for iOS 4.2 for the iPad last year not so much.

Will you guarantee 100% that anyone loading the GM will NOT have to do a restore? If not, then although you might quibble with my use of the word "likely", the caution stands.

You could easily have posted your opinion/clarification without being rude.

Dev page says nothing about beta 9 working with GM, It has however been updated more recently than beta 7 so I would guess it would work.
