Not a developer and the GM installed without issue the iTunes beta crashed the first time I tried but lucky that left my phone in recovery mode.

For those asking why beta 7 can be used it is because beta 7 is available for Windows where as beta 8 and 9 are Mac only (or least 8 and 9 were only for Macs from the sources I could find). Beta 8 and 9 will work just as well.

If you are short of time you may not want to upgrade as it is taking ages to copy my 159 apps across.

What wrong with my post that quoted it to tell people to ignore it?

You have to manually log into iCloud and tell it what to sync

So I can use my mobileme account during setup process (starting process) and will work fine with it? i remember during betas, they said you need to use apple id which is not mobileme id? does it still hold that part or i can use mobile me now?

FFS i just overwrote my iphones back up with the newly updated ios 5 one.

That's exactly what I'm wondering. I've never used a beta for iTunes. How does one go about getting it?

yes you need Beta 7 of 10.5 or higher. Links can't be posted on here but a quick search on google and it will show you the way.

Google.

He meant his own post.

D'oh makes perfect sense now, thanks

My brain is like switch cheese when you start using the phone it asks you if you want to use iCloud you can decline at this point.

I Know I only did it about an hour ago but I quite certain that was the case, others should be able to confirm.

I'm extremely paranoid, so what were to happen if I needed a Dev account? would my phone brick? How would I recover it?

sweet doing a restore to this right now.. i gave up my jailbreak for this!!!

Strange situation; I've restored from my backup and my contacts don't show in the contact list but in my messages list people who would be in my contacts list have their names showing?

Edit: Solved by re-restoring.

I have the ipsw file but I try to open but it open iTunes and ...nothing. What am I missing?? ..should it install or something?? I will wait for an complete tutorial from someone who knows exactly how to do it properly step by step.

Downloading the GM now, 22 mins left! Apparently I'm hearing on Twitter that iOS 5 also fixes some people who are having home button issues with it not working at times. Good to know if true!

Oh that would be amazing. I thought it was my phone hardware doing that!

1 - Launch iTunes (make sure iTunes is up-to-date)
2 - Connect device to computer
3 - Select your device in the list (e.g.: Filip’s iPhone)
4 - click the “summary” tab
5 - hold the Alt key (on Mac OS X) / the Shift key (on Windows) and hit “restore” (as shown in the screenshot below)
6 - iTunes will show a dialog allowing you to select the IPSW file you want your device restored to
7- select the IPSW firmware bundle you want to restore to and hit “choose”
8- be patient and wait for the installation process to be completed by iTunes

Has Genius gone from the music app?
