You live in a bubble. iOS has evolved slowly. Jailbreaking is the only way to achieve anything resembling feature parity with Android.
Couldn't agree more. Call it "Expert Mode" or "Developer Mode" or something daunting, but for heavens sake, utilize and capitalize on it Apple, don't fight it and lose.
Yeah, just the BIGGEST one of all. PEOPLE should decide what software goes on their devices, NOT Apple. There is ZERO and I mean ZERO excuse for this crap. We need new consumer laws in this country and around the world to address this sort of thing. Apple may make the hardware and operating system, but it's still your personal computing device and your right to privacy. The day you let companies or the government tell you what you can and cannot run on your computer is the day you lose what little is left of your freedoms. I don't need Apple telling me I can't run Firefox on my Mac because it competes with Safari and that IS what is eventually going to happen we just keep going down that road.
People who do the stupid jailbreak is for stealing apps without paying anything, the excuse of the sb settings is just too old, accept it, jailbreakers (sounds really funny) like to obtain things without paying anything.

You do realize that your first example helps to prove matgzx's point, right? When a developer releases a "free version" of an app with ads, the app isn't really "free", the developer is just looking to earn their revenue through the alternative method of ad revenue. So disabling ads in a "free" version of an app isn't really much different than obtaining a for-pay version of an app without paying for it.matgzx said:People who do the stupid jailbreak is for stealing apps without paying anything, the excuse of the sb settings is just too old, accept it, jailbreakers (sounds really funny) like to obtain things without paying anything.
Or not... I barely consider my iPhone/iPad useable without a jailbreak
Just some of tweaks I have installed:
Adblock (Block web ads and Free app ads)
In this day and age, with all of the substantial improvements that Apple has made to iOS over the years, I don't really think that there are many excuses left for jailbreakers.
Oh and anyone with a jail broken device. When this hits, your device's value just went up.
So many updates, for ****s sake. Get your act together!
Isn't it ironic. I unlocked every Android device bootloader I've owned just to get the latest and greatest version of Android but iOS users will be avoiding the next version like the plague to keep their jailbreaks. That shows you the difference between Apple vs Google right there.
Samsung can try to re-lock my Note 2 bootloader till the cows come home but once your unlocked on Android there is no need to load up a factory ROM or accept OEM updates. You can just keep using custom or modified stock Samsung ROM's without seeing an update. I'm about to flash a Rom called "JediX". How can you not love a Rom with the word "Jedi" in it's name? My S-Pen will double as a lightsaber in about 5 minutes.
Apple's practices will actually make people want to come over to Android.
Why does the value go up? You can't restore your iPhone to 6.1.2 after 6.1.3 comes out, and I sure as heck wouldn't sell my iPhone 5 without restoring it.
Unless there's a way to roll back firmwares on iOS 6?
Sounds like you know some dodgy peeps. At least 50% of my tweaks I have paid for and haven't downloaded a single apps per se. They are all small apps that enhance the function of the OS(tweaks). BiteSMS althought not essential is a really nice way to text, lets face it, Apple should focus on texting, apparently a few peeps do this. Auxo is just beautiful and offers a MUCH needed better way to switch apps. Why wouldn't Apple integrate something like this?? It is very well known that the IOS multitasking is one of the worst on smart phone OS's. Swipe up swipe down, for a function you desire, why on earth would Apple not integrate this?? Change WiFi & BT status without leaving your app, why would Apple not have initiated this?? I've got a pretty good feeling if Jony Ive had his way, he would not have bothered with leather look stitching around pages, torn paper etc, but would have opted to instead put resources into functions such as described above. There is a LOT of hope for IOS7 with JI at the helm. I have the utmost respect for JI and have a lot of faith in IOS7 delivering. If this is the case, I would not be surprised if we see record # of peeps move away from jailbreaking. No brainier really.People who do the stupid jailbreak is for stealing apps without paying anything, the excuse of the sb settings is just too old, accept it, jailbreakers (sounds really funny) like to obtain things without paying anything.
If you save your SHSH Blobs for 6.1, 6.1.1, or 6.1.2 then you can fool iTunes into thinking Apple has given you permission to restore to that version.
I jailbroke my iPad 3 once only to find out that there was nothing of interest for me personally. I am sure it's a big deal for some, but many people are perfectly content with the apps that are being offered on the appstore.
Just saying![]()

So 12 years of contacts for hundreds of people is not considered private information in your world?
Are you serious? there is so many things you can do with an iPhone jailbroken that you can't with iOS on its own.
Very true! However, you get so many bugs with it too and that's a fact.
I have 5 tweaks only on my phone. Battery drains super quick, keeps crashing, lags! (reasons i quit Android 2 years ago) Don't get me wrong, i love the tweaks but am using but seriously thinking of going back because of the reasons mentioned above.
