The "Mark as unread" function in Mail works a bit different in iOS 6, there's a new icon to the bottom left:

How does that work? I assume when you tap the flag icon it pops up a similar dialog to the one that appears when you tap "Mark" in iOS 5 (i.e. buttons like "Flag", "Mark as Unread", "Cancel")?

That's correct, but I only get two options: "Mark as Unread" and "Cancel".

Maybe thats depending on your account type. I do see both "flag" and "mark as unread" (and "cancel" of course) when touching the flag-button (ordinary IMAP account ... dovecot does the serving, afair).
but wasn't marking an email as unread again already possible in iOS5? only the flag button in the toolbar is new, right?

One of my concerns about facepage integration is if we'll be able to control whether or not location data is included every time we post an update or photo.

Can anyone comment on this?

Thanks

When you post to FB and click on Location is lists places around you, like the check in feature, not a true GPS location.

I agree, I bet there are certain account types that don't support flagging.

Yes, it sounds like the only thing that's changed here is that the "Mark" link has turned into a "Flag" button. Which may be sensible, because I've known several heavy users who have never noticed the "Mark" link before.

I was also wondering how the integrating contacts works.
Is there any way to turn that off completely?
There's no way I want to have to wade through all my "friends" in the contacts on my phone.

I did not integrate mine, I choose not to. You can turn it off as well control the integration of calendar entries.
They show up as a Facebook group in your contacts, but some have had trouble. Search and you can see the threads.

As you are not a Developer, you should NOT run beta software. Not only can it have unintended consiquences, but it is also illegal. There is no legal way to download or install the beta. Discussion past this point is also against the Macrumors policy.

Wrong in just about every respect. While I have no sympathy for someone installing the beta and then whining if it breaks their device or doesn't work properly, the poster is quite entitled to register as a developer, pay their $99 and install the beta even if they have no intention of developing an app.

Additionally, using a udid slot from someone else may be a grey area, but I don't see how it could be ruled as illegal and Apple would find it pretty difficult to prosecute anyone for it.

Finally, the only thing not open to discussion on MR is where to buy such slots to avoid people blatently advertising and selling them, so if you're going to be quite so self important about all this, get your facts straight.

Frankly if MR cared one bit about the issue, they would disallow any discussion of the beta whatsoever, since the NDA would preclude talking about it in public. Other boards specifically tell people that Apple's dev forums are the place for this.

Yep. On top of all that they snuffed out the enthusiasm of a newbie. What a way to welcome someone. <shakes head>

New 'Open In' options when viewing photos in iMessage, allows you to open the photo in any app that supports it. Hopefully this will make its way to the Photos.app! :)

Glad to see that the quotation marks around the app names has been removed. Wish you could hold down one of those icons to reorder them just like on the Springboard. The apparent lack of icon order already looks irritating to me.

Can anyone confirm if something has been changed for me?

In previous versions of iOS, all calendar events showed up in Notification Center, even if you had the calendar turned off in the calendar app. For example, I had a separate calendar with the Mets schedule on it so I could turn it off when I didn't need it, but even if i turn it off it still shows up in the the notification center.

Can anyone confirm if this has been fixed or not? Thank you!

Looks like this still happens! sorry

I'm trying to save them $100. They are certainly entitled to pay and then download it, without being a developer, but that is at their own risk, and from their post, did you think they were ready to use beta software, and deal with the consequences?

Rape is illegal, and that is difficult to prove and prosecute for. Not that the two are similar offenses, but just because Apple can't prove it, doesn't mean its legal. Go read Apples official policy. Yes, there is grey area, but unless you buy a developer account, it is not your right to run the beta.

I mentioned not advertising it, simply to get that "out there" before someone, anyone, thought that it would be a good idea to ask for someone willing to sell UDID slots.

Rape is illegal, and that is difficult to prove and prosecute for..

I really, really can't believe you even tried to make a comparison here.

But irrespective of that, let's put this myth to bed, so I'll spell it out to you instead of alluding to it. It is categorically not illegal to install an iOS beta using a slot provided by a developer who doesn't employ you ok?

At worse, the seller of the slot has broken their agreement with Apple, which could result in Apple terminating that agreement and refusing to allow them access to a developer account again. That's it.

Which, from your other responses on this forum where you openly talk about the iOS6 beta in contravention of the NDA associated with your developer account, they are also entitled to do with you... Not looking so clever, or indeed righteous now are you?

Unauthorized distribution of Apple Confidential Information (including pre-release Apple Software) is prohibited and may subject you to both civil and criminal liability."

And I never said or even tried to imply I am more righteous than anyone here. If someone, anyone, believes that I am crossing the line any more than anyone else here, I will gladly remove anything I have posted about any beta, developer preview, or otherwise.
