Why the hell not ? If thats what it takes to keep my iOS statusbar notification icons (MWI/VWI's) (WITHOUT jailbreaking) then thats precisely what i'm going to do.

ps: I wish iOS had proper handling of VWI for 2 lines like nextel used to do it.
pps: there are no stupid questions: this is a valid concern. I want to keep these icons if i can!
I want to be able to see at a glance if i have unread mail without using badges or blimp notifications right from the lock screen. This is especially handy if i have album art or even worse interchangable cards for passbook pop up in the background.

Status bar icons were never part of stock iOS ffs. If you're trolling then not a bad job, but if not then you have a major problem. And restoring or updating from jailbroken state will NEVER keep your jb apps or tweaks, iTunes will always format the whole system(in the case of an update, it keeps user files).

No it certainly has not. And I am not trying to jailbreak. I want to know what OFFICIAL builds had MWI/VWI 's. This has nothing to do with jailbreaking.
If this was a remnant left over from a previous jailbreak thats a different story.

Did ios6 beta 1 OFFICIALLY have MWI/VWI 's
The only one person who has mentioned that they WHERE in fact in ios5 didn't sound to sure.

It is not, and never has been, part of a stock, from Apple, enabled by default, iOS build.
Stock iOS has never had MWI and VWI in the status bar, they have always been shown as red bubbles that show over the app icon.
Now stop asking this questions. This is your definitive answer.

If thats indeed true then the next question is what exactly needs to be changed in order for the icons to carry over. I'm also curious what else could be "carried" over without breaking much or bogging down system resources. Those icons will become even further important once everyone starts using *interchangable* image transitioning cards in passbook.

Your question was clear, yes, but also wrong. You been asking "Which version of iOS from Apple has email and voicemail notification icons next to the battery icon?" That's a nonsensical question. It's like asking "Which baseball player hit 2,000 home runs last season?" There is no real answer to that question, which is why we're doing our best by telling you "None." If you keep insisting on being told a version number or a player's name, you're just going to have to learn to deal with disappointment.

Just wanted to say thank you for this post. And thanks for having a open mind about things. I just felt a little like my intelligence was being insulted when i keep being told i should be "taken out back and shot" because i previously jailbroke.
Whish people would be more open minded. such is life i suppose.

The background images for cards will be able to be changed randomly by merchants once a card is refreshed. Some will be used for show but most will use them for coupons and future offers for events,shows,free coffee stuff like that.
And if you didn't know already (you probably do tho), cards will popup once you enter a store based on location of that franchise address (s). These will also be on the lockscreen.
We will be using this feature at my gym btw
Only 2 locations right now but more in the future. Passbook is really great i love it.
Right now everyone uses a little plastic card and it really sucks because more than half our members have either a iphone 4 or higher. Not many of our members have android phones.
All in all i can really see apple taking over the mobile payment market with this if they implement it correctly in a crowd sourced based way.

I read your post trying to figure out what pass key was. Then I realized you meant Passbook.
Excuse me you are right i meant passbook. All the heat in here was distracting me. sorry.
By the way, i am not like most people here. Mostly everyone is running to jailbreak.
But for me its not jailbreaking that is the ultimate goal.
I only need a few applications that are in the app store, and any that have "bad behavior" i deal with in other ways. The only thing i really miss is widget support. But you gotta take the good with the bad too.

Edited my earlier post that said the mail notifications in the status bar were in stock iOS. It's been so long since I've used a non-JB iOS device that I completely forgot that it was not a feature in iOS. Apologies for the misinformation.
