Wish they would've added cellular to the main settings page like they did with Bluetooth. I would also move privacy up to the dnd/notifications group because location services used to be at the top of the settings page and is now buried in there

anybody knows how to enable the automatic flyover in 3d maps, I'm talking about that effect apple did demo of where it was turning around the "sydney opera house" by itself with out them tilting it, when they introduced the flyover?

I hope you understand what I'm trying to ask.

Search for something. It'll fly there and circle it.

YES.

I dont know wtf I'm doing wrong. Is this a setting somewhere???

Mine requires password always, even for updates, but that is a feature. I have the option "Require Password" set to "Always"...you might try one of the other settings and see if that fixes it. I don't mind entering my password...

It's very hit or miss. Most of the time it doesn't work for me.

OK I figured it out.

to get the circling effect in 3d:

1. You must have that spot bookmarked
2. Before clicking on the bookmark, make sure you are in '3d' mode
3. click the bookmark and it will fly there and circle around it

:p hope this helps everyone :D

Mail app update and quirks

Mail app in IOS 6 now works like Gmail's mobile app..

I was wondering where the "Refresh" button went, in Mail everything is "swipe down" to refresh :) Neat...

Typing/Setting up 2-factor for Mail.app on ipad with IOS6 was interesting..

When you swipe away from the Mail.app, it now looses focus,, which means you cannot add characters to password/username fields anymore when you swipe back to the app.

You have to do this in "one fell swoop".. as when you went back to Mail.app to click in the field(s) to edit/add, it "clears" those fields. Bugger !!

Good for security.... as an extra protection,,, but useless security, as the password is not stored in the clear.... its masked...

So, I was "forced" to set up 2-factor application specific password for Mail on iPad, through my Mac, just so i could "see" the entire password and type it all in at once. :p

I prefer the old way ....... What seems secure, is also inconvenient.

Thanks Apple.

Weather

Interesting, just found out you could ask Siri on the iPad what the weather will be like for the week and she will display a weather widget... despite the iPad not having a weather app

In Music.app, the chrome volume control handle uses the accelerometer to mimic the shine of aluminum. Check it out by rotating phone side-to-side and forward-back. It's pretty badass.

Setting up

When setting up iPhone with IOS 6 for first time (aka, if you deliberately decided to backup/restore like i chose to do), and you connect to Wi-fi at startup, you are STILL prompted to "Continue without WiFI", even though the status icon is there.

Also, when phone call comes in, it rings loud, once... then goes soft.

Why does Apple break these obvious things with each update

Its like..... it shouldn't happen.

So the first time i put in my facebook credentials it willl AUTOMATICALLY update my contacts and calendar with facebook's? Can I turn contacts and calendars off before ANY syncing occurs?

Look closely at the apps with colored titlebars while they spring open. The top info fades away and then reappears with the colored titlebar. Whereas the ones with black titlebars have text and icons remain fixed as the app opens.

Well, that's... useful.

Wait. No, no it isn't. I don't want to have to bookmark things just to show off the one feature of Maps that's marginally interesting (albeit incredibly useless).
