I'm now back up and running on iPad 2 iOS6.

So, if that page on Apple's site is ever misplaced again, none of my iDevices will connect to wifi?

Go To:

Settings>Wi-Fi>("Your Network")> [the blue circle arrow icon]

Scroll to bottom of screen and set HTTP Proxy to Auto

NOOOO! That setting should stay to off unless you are configuring a proxy using auto proxy pac file on a server.

When i try to connect to the apple extreme i get the error, and when i connect to my wrt54g that is in repeater mode from the apple extreme I can connect without an issue. weird sht.

Here is a short term workaround

This requires that you have you own website (sorry i wont post mine).

1. Upload an html to your server with the following data

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 3.2//EN"><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
<base href="http://www.apple.com/library/test/success.html"><div style="background:#fff;border:1px solid #999;margin:-1px -1px 0;padding:0;"><div style="background:#ddd;border:1px solid #999;color:#000;font:13px arial,sans-serif;font-weight:normal;margin:12px;padding:8px;text-align:left">This is Google s cache of <a href="http://www.apple.com/library/test/success.html" style="text-decoration:underline;color:#00c">http://www.apple.com/library/test/success.html</a>. It is a snapshot of the page as it appeared on Sep 8, 2012 05:24:26 GMT. The <a href="http://www.apple.com/library/test/success.html" style="text-decoration:underline;color:#00c">current page</a> could have changed in the meantime. <a href="http://support.google.com/websearch/bin/answer.py?hl=en&p=cached&answer=1687222" style="text-decoration:underline;color:#00c">Learn more</a><br>Tip: To quickly find your search term on this page, press <b>Ctrl+F</b> or <b>⌘-F</b> (Mac) and use the find bar.<br><br><div style="float:right"><a href="http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:UGNXuiJ_uIYJ:www.apple.com/library/test/success.html&hl=en&client=safari&gl=us&prmd=imvns&strip=1" style="text-decoration:underline;color:#00c">Text-only version</a></div>
<div> </div></div></div><div style="position:relative">
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 3.2//EN">
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE>Success</TITLE>
</HEAD>
<BODY>
Success
</BODY>
</HTML>

2. Now attempt to connect to your wifi network (it will fail)
3. Press the blue arrow in wifi settings to open up the wifi settings for that router
4. under DNS, enter the URL for for the page you uploaded (e.g. http://www.yourdomain.com/success.html
5. Now try connecting to your network again
6. THe wifi icon should persist
7. Press the blue arrow and remove the DNS entry (set it to nothing or 8.8.8.8)

I am not sure how often you have to do this, but at least this will let you all do your icloud backups.

Here is what is going on. Ever since iOS 4(?) there has been a feature where if you connect to a WiFi network it will try to ping this site:http://www.apple.com/library/test/success.html

If it is a success then it lets you connect, if it is not a success the phone trys to bring up what would be a Login page for corporate wifi networks. Example, public access points that have a login page, etc.

It seems that some moron at Apple deleted the file located at http://www.apple.com/library/test/success.html and that is why it is not working.

This is not an iOS 6 issue but rather a problem with Apple's website.

Rebooting your phone will not help, nothing will help until Apple fixes the problem on their end.
If you click on the URL, it appears the file that the moron deleted has been replaced. Therefore, nobody should be having this problem anymore, right?

It's working now.. BUT APPLE IS WATCHING US !!!!!!

They fixed that login and now it's working...

BUT WHY the login ????

Apple should explain this ...

Anyone ?

Go To:

Settings>Wi-Fi>("Your Network")> [the blue circle arrow icon]

Scroll to bottom of screen and set HTTP Proxy to Auto

.. hope that helps

Edit, actually its working the way it was, look like problem was fixed. Down voted....hehe jk

Ok...so i restored the entire phone with ios 6 and i was able to connect to my wifi at home in order to sync with icloud...but i WAS able to join the network.

I have solved this issue on my iPhone 4S. I went to Settings - General - Click Blue Arrow Icon - Forget Network. Then Rejoin and enter your password. Problem should be solved.

Sorry. I didn't read this entire thread but it seems somebody else has also come up with a fix.

I got mine working. I went to apple site to manage my apple ID and entered my information. I used safari on my 3G connection. Once on the page I cycled wifi off and on and it seems to be holding because I now have wifi and its not asking to go to apple.com anymore.
