reset network settings

I was able to get my iphone 4 working again with wifi by resetting network settings (general -> reset -> reset network settings)

Having wifi issues as well... I see a 6.0.1 release coming within a week...

Edit: Now it is working and the actual connection (according to speedtest.net) is much faster.

Your all welcome!!!

I emailed Phil, and he responded.

Hi XXXXXX,

Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention. We would not have noticed this major bug had it not been for your courages act of emailing me directly. I will see to it personally that you will be rewarded for your work.

Phil

Looks like Apple just fixed the problem. Wonder if they'll acknowledge it ever happened.

Pathetic (IMO) that engadget, MacRumors, AppleInsider, and every other major tech blog (that I've checked) slept through the whole thing.

I updated my iPhone 4S with iTunes GM last week when it came out and had never seen this problem. I was just reading this forum via forum spy and decided to test my phone and I got the error. I turned off wifi and it worked fine on 4G. I then reconnected to my wifi and still no problem. I have multiple wifi routers and not problem with any of them. This is pretty strange.

Prior to testing I had been out with my iPad 3 using my Personal Hotspot and had just turned it off after coming home. Not sure if that is related but I have been doing that off and on since iOS 6 was installed.

Works back OK. This, however is a proof that the basic technology behind this authentication system seems to a waaaaay too temporary solution.

That was frustrating... time to don my hat.

How I fixed this on iPhone 4:

  • clear safari cache and cookies
  • reset network settings
  • sync iPhone again in iTunes
  • reconnect to wifi

Change the setting of your trusted wifi network to static. The wifi isn't dropping so far...
Of course this is after I turned off and on the wifi router and turned my phone off and on.

So it was a server side problem. Glad it got fixed :D I work at a local university and they have a wifi network here that requires a login, but for some reason today, the login page wouldnt load on my mac and in its place the pop up window loaded up apple.com
I figure this was related to the problem on iOS 6 somehow. It's not happening anymore though.
