well no surprise probably, but same problem here in NL on our ipad2, iphone4 and iphone4s.

all started at the same time near 01:00 am CET. been running GM without issues for a week and now wifi disconnects after the apple.com 404 login page.

grrrrr.

Well look at that, Steven Jobs passes away and it took Apple's management only 1 year to turn the company into Microsoft.

This is a complete cluster **** of a break when launching a new OS upgrade to your phone users.

We're all having the same fracking issue. All the phones in my household can't connect. And this thread is further proof of the massive failure at APPLE HQ to maintain quality control. WTF gives apple?

lol, glad it's not just me then.

bit of an odd bug but hopefully it'll get fixed asap.

Having this same problem. This just happened too with in the last hour or so. Ive ran every beta and had the GM since last week with no problems till now.

It's checking to see if the wifi has an internet connection or if it is a captive portal you need to log in to. If the wifi requires a log in, it shows the page it redirects you to even if you aren't in a web browser. Before they added this, you'd be trying to figure out why your app isn't working until you tried safari and got the login page there.

Looks like the server it connects to to test the connection is broken.

Just a huge thank you for explaining this. Makes since now. Hopefully their server will be fixed soon.

I'll throw my name into the mix...

I can no longer keep a connection to my WiFi network at home. I rebooted my iPhone, and my iPad as well as my router and it is still happening.

Does anyone know if Apple has been made aware of this??

Here is what is going on. Ever since iOS 4(?) there has been a feature where if you connect to a WiFi network it will try to ping this site:http://www.apple.com/library/test/success.html

If it is a success then it lets you connect, if it is not a success the phone trys to bring up what would be a Login page for corporate wifi networks. Example, public access points that have a login page, etc.

It seems that some moron at Apple deleted the file located at http://www.apple.com/library/test/success.html and that is why it is not working.

This is not an iOS 6 issue but rather a problem with Apple's website.

Rebooting your phone will not help, nothing will help until Apple fixes the problem on their end.

Having the same problem as well. I just googled it and it brought me here. Glad i'm not the only one but this sucks. My wifes iphone on ios5 is fine, and so are our other devices. Just my upgraded 4S

Guys. Let us put our heads together here. Because this is not affecting everyone. List your device, if you restored from backup, or setup as a new device. There has to be something on common here.

Not necessarily relevant - I upgraded my iPhone 4 at 1800 GMT tonight, and it's been working fine on WiFi for about five hours, until it broke, shortly before midnight GMT (about a half hour ago).

I don't necessarily think this is a device specific issue; it's *something* related to iOS6.

My wife's iPhone 3GS - still running 5.1.1 - is working fine on WiFi.

To all those asking how can something like this be missed in testing, the answer is: simply, because it is not an OS issue per se. As it was explained earlier in the thread, iOS relies on pinging a certain page on apple website to determine whether your network requires additional authentication. Since the page is currently removed, the OS is not getting the response it wants and shows you the log in window, displaying the page that normally would contain the authentication forms. Since there is no such page, you just get a 404 from Apple's own website. Nevertheless, this still sucks. Parhaps one way to try tor esolve this would be to actually create a guest network reuqiirng authentication.

haha your post made me laugh quite a lot.
youre having a melt down.

it was fine until i rebooted on the GM install, so it does have to do with the wifi connectivity test. was upgrading apps for ios6 just 20 minutes ago and now no iOS device is working anymore around here

same problem here, was working fine, and suddenly started getting this issue. also a friend is having this on iphone and ipad. GG.

apple stalker.

:D

I updated my iPhone 4S about four hours ago and the wifi was working fine. Past twenty minutes or so it's been dropping the wifi connection from my local router. Every time I reconnect it brings me to an Apple web page pop up, 'Log In' is in the title and the apple web page loads to an error saying unavailable.

Extremely annoying.
