yeah I think I did it wrong UGH. I clicked on restore from iCloud because it had todays date from when I backed it up for the first time.

So my issue is still going to happen if i clicked restore from iCloud right.

Yeah Dave. If your battery is bad because of corruption in your data you would bring back the same issue.

Just go to settings - general - reset and erase all content and settings then select "set up as new" during the setup.

Pathetic.

I thought 7.0.3 had fixed my battery drain as things were a lot better for an hour after the update. However today my battery is again plummeting :-(

Background app refresh? System services for location settings? Reduce motion?

Have all these turned back on, these are feature I find I don't always needs so I turn them off, helps battery a lot!

I have ALL the new iOS7 settings switched off and a lot of the iOS6 settings are off too. In fact I am running my iPhone 5 on the exact same settings as it ran on iOS6 yet I have experienced dreadful battery drain and overheating with all three iOS7 updates. I can't think for one moment that I suddenly and coincidentally developed a hardware issue at the same time as installing iOS7, yet nor can I understand how some people are experiencing zero issues. It's extremely strange but also completely unacceptable. My iPhone 5 is barely four months old yet the battery is performing like a three year old, heavily used handset.

If you haven't already, remove all apps from your recently used app list and reset (reboot) your phone. After it restarts try to determine if you're still experiencing the same battery discharge rate before you start using it.

Still have excessive battery drain with 7.0.3 ... 4 hrs and half
Not happy at all

I just thought I'd give a quick update that I think I found my problem with the battery on my iPhone 5s. I had tried everything from resetting settings, closing apps, and disabling all sorts of services. In my case I think it comes down to weak LTE coverage in my house. It's hard to tell since it shows at least three dots of LTE service, but as soon as I turned LTE off my battery drain seemed to slow significantly. I'll see if it keeps up for the next few days.
I'd really like to use LTE, so I may have to get in the habbit of turning it off and on depending on where I am. Hopefully AT&T will improve their coverage soon.

Glad you fixed your problem. For me, it isn't signal strength because my location and usage patterns have been the same for over 5 years and three different handsets. We don't even have LTE in the UK. Only iOS7 has caused my battery drain.

38 minutes usage 2.5 hrs standby. 100% battery. Seems fine to me. I've been getting great battery life since day 1

Ive had a pretty nice phone battery until iOS7 really. But I have always had problems with my Iphone 5. The first Iphone 5 I had bought, it wouldnt latch on to LTE or 3G. I would go to airplane mode and it would latch for alittle then go to 2g and i wouldnt be able to make any calls or sen texts, nothing. So I got a replacement, and its been doing well ( Except I have gone through almost 4 chargers now..) But then iOS 7 comes, battery life is looking decent an then 2 weeks later it just starts to drain FAST. It will turn off at 28% and say its dead sometimes. I Will plug it in at 23% and it will instantly jump to like 36%. Then last night, I had it fully charged, decided to keep it on and see what happened and i woke up and it was on 72% i think. I have all those settings off that came with iOS7. I mean, i dont wanna go get a new replacement because the closest apple store is a hour and a half from me, but I feel like i will need to soon:/ Im also never buying apple care again i think, I dont see why they made the accidental price change from 49 to 79 now

My battery life has also decreased. Usually from the morning till is lunch time my battery % would be around 60%. After the update my battery currently sits on 36% with the same amount of use.

That's great news (well, at least you know what the issue is now). :) I think it was Max(IT) who narrowed down his issue to searching networks so things are starting to point in a certain direction.

One of us should make a list of actions including a stretch of airplane mode. I don't stay calm enough in the forum when someone is screaming for Apple to fix the problem when the problem is almost always something on the phone side. It's just logical troubleshooting: If group has the problem and another group doesn't, what's difference between the groups?
