I had same issues with my ip5 from last year. Battery life shut downs, bad battery life at 3-4 hrs most. I took it into genius bar and they checked the phone and showed the battery has failed (in the red) using their testing method. They put a new battery in for me. I am using the latest ios7 btw. I get around 8-9 hrs of battery and no shut downs at 10-20% anymore.

My ip5 was one of the first week 41 phones when it was released so the battery in those might not last long or have issues. I would check with ur genius guys at apple first.

Apple suck at battery life, that's awful
Yeah, really disgusting, only over 9 hours of usage with 45% charge left on my iPad Air LTE. At that rate I will hit about 14-15 hours of use on a single charge.
"That's awful" indeed... ;)

Yeah well I get 6 hours with everything turned off :)

Ohh but yeah, I have a iphone 5, i mean, that thing is dead ain't it? it's more than 1 year old!!

iOS 7.1 battery life thread

If you have 12 hrs hours of standby and 8 hrs of use..

It's been charged for 12 hours and been doing nothing for 4. You might have used it for 1. But if it's doing stuff in the background it counts it as 'use' (fetching mail, background update for apps, syncing calendar).

If you put it in the charger at 10pm. And it's fully charged at midnight. It's on the net till 6am, tada first 6hours on the counter.. Although it's not on battery.

You see where I am going? The battery status is f...d

Shutting down at 20%?

Charge it full, use it till it dies, leave it for a while (as long as possible). Fully charge and leave it on a while. Repeat. This will help it calibrate and it will drop at 8% instead of 20.. My wife's 4s dropped at 48% got it down to 6%

I'm still waiting for my 7.1 to drain:confused:. Anyways, I'm doing this on my only 5 made in June and refurbished in September for camera fault(this is proof the 5 is still awesome and for comparison purposes), and I was on the plane yesterday on 7.0.4(notice the On/Off labels) with awesome battery life. I'll do a follow up post when 7.1 kills my battery :D

I'm not sure why people are having such bad issues with iOS 7 and their battery. I am still on 7.0.4 and get great battery life on iPhone 5. This wasn't wifi at all. I was at work all day.

Well it was wifi on when I took the picture. I had been home for about 20 mins.

Not sure why it says it had been plugged in since a full charge though. I didn't even have a charger with me that day.

This is just IMPOSSIBLE and the reason why it says it had been plugged in is that you .... plugged it in to obtain such an usage time.

I honestly didn't plug it in from 5 that morning till I got home after 7 pm. I was in excellent cell reception all day. I've never been able to replicate this since. I did get 9 hours a few other times.

7.1 Beta 2 is amazing for battery life it's just as good as iOS 6.1.4 was if not better. i have an iPh5 with iOS6 and another iPh5 with iOS 7.1 beta 2

No issues here. With wifi, BT & location services running, I usually get home from an 8 to 10 hour shift with 80-90% battery left.

Yea maybe so but it was plugged in at some point. There's no way you are gonna get that kinda time out of an iPhone battery. Sorry, no one here is gonna believe those usage and standby times.

Next time I'm back in that area I will get another screen capture of it. I know I didn't plug in that day and it ran hard all day long. Guess we will see

To people having battery problems, do a DFU restore to 7.1b2 (no backup, set up as new device) After thats complete and you have synced all your Apps, contacts etc etc to the phone let your device die completely without plugging it in. Then charge the phone using the genuine Lightning cable from the Wall not the computer. and it will be perfect trust me :)

if you think you have battery problems i guess you've never seen/used an android phone (galaxy S4) they are shocking, we tested a brand new one and we only had 3 hours usage from it :/

Here's what i get with %70 of usage is 3G browsing on 3 signal coverage on my 5s on 7.1 B2. Rest is wifi browsing. Nothing is turned off and "moves" app is running in the background.

That math doesn't work. You had to have it plugged in. You have over a day of standby time and claim to have been off the charger for 14 hours.

So I doubt very seriously you had your screen on for the entire time you were at work. iPhones don't lie, you had it plugged in and my guess is several times.

Moving on...

How much are you using our phone? Not using it and having it drain 20% over 9 hours is pretty terrible.

I've had good battery life on my 5S with 7.1 since I first got it up until about 3 days ago. Since then the standby time has been awful. I can charge it up to full at 10PM and by the time I wake up it will be dead. Could it be some rogue app is draining my battery with Background App Refresh, or is this a sign that my battery is failing?

Background App refresh works only with some app actually active in background : did you have any ?

9 hours are a lot for an iPhone 5 with iOS 7, but in particularly favorable situations I can believe it.

But 13 hours as I said is just impossible ....
