If you really use Twitter or Facebook then you'd have those installed and launching one and going to post and update there isn't that much more than using what was in the notification center. Sure it's not as convenient, but at the same time not really that much worse. That said, would be nice to have it back for those who want it, but probably more like in control center rather than notification center.

It's less time consuming to swipe down and hit tap to tweet than it is to open the app, wait for it to load, then tweet/post.

But considering how much slower they made iOS7 it's no surprise this was done.

True. It would be even less time consuming if every settings option was provided in control center too, but certainly some design decisions have to be made. It seems like the whole Facebook and Twitter thing didn't really fit in with the notification center as it was set up for iOS 7 (or even in general) which is likely why the options aren't there anymore.

Is it just me or is that little lightning bolt that appears to the right of the battery indicator when the device is charging new?

I remember in the 7.0 beta it used to just be a colour change which denoted charging and there was no symbol. Can't say I noticed the symbol until I installed 7.1 but it was probably there all along???

It's been there all along. In the first beta of iOS 7, it pulsed while charging, was solid once fully charged. After that, it's been constantly solid during all stated of charging. But it had been there all along since iOS 7's first beta. Nothing new.

My estimated travel time in the notification centre to and back from frequently visited locations are working flawlessly on 7.1 b1. Wasn't the case on 7.0.4. iPhone 5.

Congrats you contradicted yourself twice in your own post. I have both apps but its more convenient to have the buttons for quick posts. I do agree though they should be in CC

Twitter/Facebook tap to post does not fit in with NC or CC. So not sure where they would out it - the Messages app seems the better place. At least they didn't remove the entire integration.

Yeah...no contradiction there...and the main point of those not belonging in the notification center still seems to apply quite well. Truthfully, neither one of those seems really all that pervasive that it should be somewhere like notification or control center. Plenty of people don't use either service and neither one had much to do with anything on the phone by default--which is pretty much what the things in notification center and control center really focus on.

You have many buttons, make the airplay ones smaller and add them there. Its easily doable.

I never contradicted myself, I only agreed that placement is better suited in CC than Notifications. CC is as much a place for shortcuts as functions.

Your argument that some people don't use FB or Twitter so the buttons shouldn't exist is feeble. Not everyone uses airplay or airdrop or want a torch ... So we should remove all this then as not everyone has use for them....

Theres two options put all options in there or allow users to customise CC.

Only one part about what I said referenced not everyone using, the other bigger part is that shortcuts to specific social networks aren't something inherent to a smartphone when compared to other basic and more native features that correlate to what a typical smartphone provides. Phone, messaging, email (not a particular picked out provider mind you), calendaring, camera, music, file sharing, even calculator are more native/basic/non-specific features while sharing through Facebook or Twitter specifically is more "exotic"/specialized.

There's probably more rationale for having a quick shortcut to create a new message or email than a Facebook or Twitter post, and yet even those haven't been provided (and I would say I and many more probably get more use from those than Facebook or Twitter shortcuts).

On the part of simply being able to customize the control center in general, I definitely agree.

Well we agree in one thing it's a start lol.

As for shortcuts for email and messages.... Thats only one button thats usually in the home bar anyway. Facebook and Twitter can be in folders > open app > new post

CC has a bright future, it took the concept Samsung had and has expanded it

Probably been asked, but is there a way to install this without resetting the phone, so I can do an update, and not a fresh install?

download the ipsw, connect iphone to computer, open itunes, go to your iphone, go to the summary tab, hold down the alt key (ctrl if windows) and click update, select ipsw, done :)

The point is that they removed functionality that we previously had. If I remember rightly, if you didn't sign in to FB/Twitter they weren't in notification centre.

I understand what you mean. I guess what I'm saying is that when it was added perhaps it was done simply to surface/promote the OS integration with those services and was done in the notification center just because there was no other better place to surface it to get more eyes on the feature and more people to use the integration (perhaps it was even part of the deal with Twitter, Facebook, etc.) Not really because it made actual design sense for it to be there or functional sense to surface it when compared to much more basic and more useful features like creating a new email or message.

With iOS 7 Apple was perhaps able to adjust for that and not have them there as they might not have had them to begin with if it wasn't for some increased promotion reasons or part of some deal with Twitter/Facebook/etc. I'm not saying that's the case, but it could very well be something like that.

So, yes, it's a feature that was removed, but perhaps one that wasn't truly meant to be there under normal circumstances, or perhaps one that wasn't meant to be there in the long run. With the iOS 7 redesign they certainly removed even more basic and useful features that apply to even more people. Lost convenience for some with this Twitter/Facebook shortcut removal, but at least not really purely removed functionality that's no longer there or works completely different as it happened with some other more basic/important features.

My mistake. Just goes to show you what you can miss when you're not really looking.

i wish they would bring back the pulsing indicator because theres no real way of knowing a full trickle charge has completed except from using iTunes or some kind of battery app :/

While useful, the actual importance of that isn't all that important really.

What's the point of these kind of comments? We have a discussion board for a reason. Don't come and crap up this thread with useless posts. Thank you!!!

Really? That wasn't part of a discussion to comment on your statement about the charging indicator? I guess discussion must mean something other than actual commenting back and forth to some people.
