Jony Ive should be hancuffed several miles from wherever iOS decisions are being made. These new changes are great, but that's because iOS 7 is so horribly designed from the start.

Everything is white. What the ****. Also, the icons are OVERsimplified. When you are left with no detail, your brain actually has to think for a little longer to distinguish each icon.

The hour by hour Calendar list in NC sucks. It should simply show me what I have on that day, rather than showing a page of empty space. I also have the same issue with Stocks, which should use far less screen real estate. Finally, if I scroll to the bottom to the tomorrow section, it tells me that I have 2 events scheduled for tomorrow. Great! But what are they??? I therefore have to open up the Calendar to find out.

iOS 6 excelled at providing the user with at-a-glance information, so it's a shame to see it all be thrown in the trash.

I hope my post doesn't come off snarky. I have no issue with your question, just Notification Centre.

You're absolutely right! not to mention that all-day events are not taken in account when it comes to NC. For example, if you have 2 events for the next day, one all-day and another one at a specific time, let's say 9 am, then in tomorrow section you'll see, "you have two events for tomorrow, first one starts at 9 am" and the all-day is just overlooked. Not only it doesn't show up in tomorrow section, but on next day it does not appear even if you have day summary set.

I actually really like seeing my contact photos fill the whole screen for incoming/outgoing calls.
Other than for quick id, what is the point of contact pics??
Just a small aesthetic pleasure.

Is this OS update supposed to be a joke?

from iPhone 1 - 6 I have loved and stayed with Apple but this stagnant and ridiculously low ball feature set is the final straw. iPhone 6 (aka when iOS 8 comes) will be my last Phone

Fool me once, Shame on you, Fool me twice...well you know how it goes

And you are taking decisions based on an iPhone 6 far from being released and an iOS 8 we don't know anything about ?

Steve was a genius for lots of things. This was NOT one of them. Did he do this because people are most creative when they are asleep? Did he do this because people are at their most capable of problem solving in the middle of the night? No, he did this to demonstrate how enormous his ego was. If an employer EVER called me in the middle of the damn night to fix something that could wait until the next day....

No, I am not a slave, I am an employee. I work to live, I do NOT live to work. It is sad that anyone let him get away with this.

I like Apple products, but you can be committed to quality without needing to be committed to a sanitarium.

The story in the biography was about Steve calling the CEO of Google (back when they were friends) while he was in church to discuss the color of the second 'o' in the Google logo in the iPhone app. I don't remember there being anything in the biography about him calling people in the middle of the night to discuss anything.

Am I the only one who is waiting for the option to remove the unified address bar in Safari?? Or at least give us the option to remove/hide that pesky period on the keyboard!!

----------

I am glad I am not the only one who is waiting patiently for that...Hopefully we won't have to be patient much longer!

Don't think they will ever have a data toggle. Cell providers want you to go over. Android doesn't have one Preinstalled. You have to download one.

That pesky period gives you the URL extensions when you hold it down.

Well...

Couldn't agree more. It's a soft keyboard. How hard can it be? Just assign someone teh task of fixing this during their lunch-break. Job done.

This has bugged me since I first got an iPhone way back. I really thought it would have been sorted by now. So Scott couldn't see the problem but I'm amazed Jony has let this slide.

The first thing that pops into my head is that maybe another company owns this patent and won't license its use to Apple.

I specifficaly registered to forums to post this, so please bear with me....

Who the hell ever uses numpad dialer ever ??? (except for my grandma)

Is it too much to ask Apple to add some functionality to freaking dialer , some that was invented like 10 years ago on nokia s60 phones, and is called "SMART DIALER" . Is this so far off ?
Functionality of this is that when you start typing on dialer looking at the letters below, it automaticaly chooses numbers and names based on your combination of numbers(letters below them)
See inserted pictures for that old but amazing invention... It changes everything!

In the first one , just 2 and 5 was pressed , meaning all combinations with "abc" as first letter and "jkl" as second letter of name of your contact is shown.
Image

In the second one, 55 was entered, meaning all combinations of "jkl5" and "jkl5" will be shown.

Please Apple, buy and implement!!
It is by far quickest way of finding contact and dialing

This is likely patented by another company (like Nokia) that refuses or charges too much to license its use to Apple.

I know it isn't a major release but is it even worth releasing. Fixing security bugs and connectivity issues is what should be released, not changing the rectangular Call button to a circle and putting a 1 at the end of iOS 7.

I can't believe people still get excited for these new releases.

Yes, with plenty of under the hood changes to improve stability and performance it's certainly worth releasing.

It's interesting how people just ignore the larger changes of the release and talk about some minor little UI changes as if that's the main or only things that are in the release.

Good companies borrow (pay lic.fees), Great companies steal !!!

Dialer

I don't know if someone already answered this question, but is the Dialer screen more translucent, in terms of the background? And is it restricted to the 5s?

Gah, still that incredibly dysfunctional white on off white crap, especially in the dialer. Why can't we get an option for a dark dialer? My freakin eyes are blind from using my iphone in the dark.
