I can tell by the number of replys on this thread that this beta 5 is really boring.

Yes, because the 5th beta of any release is always packed with brand-new and exciting features. :roll eyes:

Bug fixes and stability improvements. It is < 100 MB. Not sure what people expect.

The shift key is a million times more intuitive on beta 5. Not sure what apple was think on betas 2-4. Good thing they're just betas ;)

iOS 7.1 Beta 5 Bug Fixes and Changes

I guess we're all assuming it's by design, that the "choose a new wallpaper" setting doesn't actually allow you to choose a new wallpaper since beta 4?

eh? Are you clicking your wallpaper instead of the Choose a New Wallpaper button?

What's been new since beta 4, I think, is that you can reposition your existing wallpaper.

There was a bug that caused the music app to crash/freeze when opening artists with large libraries (over 1GB), it's been fixed!

Lmao

I never registered the "Choose a New Wallpaper" was a button.

I'm going into the garden shed, with all the other tools. :)

Why are they spending so much time and resource on things like Shift Locks and name changing from Motion to Perspective instead of giving the public what they really want like crash fixes now and darker themes, fixing the music app and safari tabs from re-loading...I don't understand.

Didn't work in beta 4 but works just fine now.

lol. To be honest, they could do with a bit of separation and another header above the picture-button of the existing one, to make it clearer. e.g. 'Adjust Existing Wallpaper'

Is the incoming call screen still the same, with small pic only?

IF you read any threads regarding this and other betas, you'd known that they've made huge improvements to crashes (fixed), safari tabs re-loading (much better), etc..

Darker themes may come with time, but likely not till at least iOS 8, if at all. But animations are much faster and the whole OS is much more stable now.

They STILL can't get this recently played bug on the iPad Air fixed?

Did they forget about it? Ugh.

The blurry shadow is still there normally but where it was really ugly was when notifications were showing and it was really prominent but now there is no blurring at all under the 'Slide to Unlock'. Another good change :)
The highlight on the toggle in Calendar is way bolder now, and the bug where it would occasionally no be highlighted yet still in effect seems fixed.
Good to see even small things like that get fixed/improved.

Perhaps because they can have multiple people working on changes, and some of them might be entry level or even interns who can do small things but not larger things, so they do things like that, while other more seasoned developers work on other bigger things that are also part of the update.

More unstable

Beta 5 seems less stable than Beta 4. In the short amount of time I've used it my iPhone has resprung twice and my iPad has had the blue screen of death (when trying to use Siri) last seen in 7.0.4 :(

On Beta 4 I had a single respring on iPhone in 2 weeks of use.

I think a Beta 6 before GM personally, especially with AirDrop broken as well.

Is it a race to see who can create these threads first?

Glad someone else started it this time. Didn't really want to get blasted for starting the thread before I had it installed myself (but after it was released), although the release notes typically don't reveal much either honestly.
