explain
1. 7.1 will be here before you know ?

2. most people will not get the cosmetic changes they are looking for ?

Oh oh, please let me explain...

1. It will be here when it's here, just get on with your life- family, friends, leisure, dinner, night outs, whatever it is you do to make you happy and not obsess over a silly os on a device which is ultimately less important than anything else in life! Hey presto! It's here already! - that's what you will say when it arrives in the middle of your life and you are out for a night and too wasted to care.

2. There are next to no cosmetic changes in 7.1 - certainly not enough for those who miss or moan over the new look iOS 7 brought. Tweaks, but nothing major (or what I would call major)

Beyond some minor (although important) changes to the Calendar app (and notification center part dealing with the calendar), as well as colors of a few stock icons, there are actually noticeable cosmetic changes to screens related to calls (receiving, placing, in-call, etc.) as well as power down screen--but they are likely to only be seen as worse than better for many those who already don't like various aspects of iOS 7 design.

True, it won't stop the moaners moaning. I love iOS 7 for what it is, and change is generally for the better IMHO.

That's true. Somehow I think Apple won't introduce iOS 8 this year, or that iOS 8 will be a small step feature-wise from iOS 7. Optimization and stability will be the main focus of iOS 8.

iOS 7 was a necessary step...

I agree with the latter of this. Couple features added, maybe some cosmetic changes based on iOS 7's core.

I doubt iOS 7 could be completely polished to the standards people have come to expect from Apple in less then a year. :)

That's 7.1's job

After the clusterf**k that was bug riddled iOS 7, expect iOS 8 to be a small update with just more optimizations

No, expect 7.1 to "be a small update with just more optimizations" 8 will probably have more major optimizations

It's impossible to please everyone. First people thought iOS was getting stale. Apple changed everything and now it's no good and the older versions are better. No pleasing anyone.

I think iOS 7 is a great update. It crashes sometimes, but 7.1 is going to fix them. I heard it's suppose to come out sometime next month.

I really care only for stability and battery life which is the main reason I switched from android to iphone.

My 5s has been running fine, therefore nothing to wait for. Guess I'll just be disappointed as I will not really notice any difference in that regard since it is being described by some as a monumental release. :D

Son, you make less than no sense

The sad part of your post? Apple didn't pay you a dime for it

Never mind. Hopefully 7.1 fixes whatever issues that are troubling some with their iphones. Millions of others just continue to rock with theirs so I guess Apple will have to figure out a magic way to address the minority.
