Sucks for those that have been beta-testing iOS 7.1. No "butterflies in the stomach" for you tomorrow. :D:D:D
In some ways, a lot of the people running the betas have been waiting for it to go final for a long time and keep on having that "butterflies in the stomach" feeling practically any weekday hoping for a release or at least some beta update.

Obviously not.
It's only a point release.

'Gold Master' is the name given to the disc sent to the presses for duplication... or to the factory for flashing to millions of new iPhone's to be shipped. We aren't necessarily expecting a new hardware release in that vein.

Thank you, that actually clears it up for me. I always thought for a release they did a Gold Master. Now I understand they do that only for a new version. Appreciate the info.

Butterflies in the stomach over an incremental update?

*Fry meme*
Unsure if serious or sarcastic...

They have done it for point releases as well, just not always.

One that actually stabilizes and improves an otherwise not-so-well-rounded initial release.

But why?

We still haven't figured out why 7.1 is needed for iTunes Festival. Everything seemed to work fine last September.

To encourage people to update? Being jailbroken on 7.0.6, I hope this doesn't start a domino effect of apps "requiring" 7.1.

The jailbreak section better brace itself for the torrent of "accidently upgraded to iOS7.1 and cannot jailbreak my iDevice...HELP!!!!"

6 months of operating system crashes.. White/black (depending of your device color) screen of death. It shouldn't have taken this long.

Did they have live streaming last year? Not 100% sure myself on what would be required seeing the changes listed with each of the betas. However, I wouldn't put it past Apple that they have a few undocumented changes that are internal to the OS. Possible H.265 support? (Not saying that is so but just throwing out random possible ideas).

Apple's made major changes to the MediaPlayer API, I bet this app uses at least some of the changes.

I dont see this as much to talk about, the updates now are so tiny, Im almost wondering if theres a full large team working on iOS 7 and if so what are everyone doing? I´m guessing apple spend 5 people for a month to decide of a slide to unlock should go left or right or if there should be a 1 or 2 pixel bevel on an icon. (oh wait now they don´t even have bevels anymore, I guess some teams have a long nice holiday ;) )

How about Siri update for more languages ? That would many appreciate I´m sure. Siri aint done until they support the languages they have in the OS.

Does 7.1 offer the ability to turn off iOS downloads?

I'd like to be able to disable iOS downloads when connected to WiFi.

We are going to Europe next summer, and are renting a MiFi device to support 2 iPhones, and iPad, and a laptop. A full iOS download would wipe out several days of our bandwidth allocation.

I know how to disable application updates. But, I currently can't disable the automatic iOS download.

The reason so many are waiting for this update is hoping that it solves a lot of crashing issues. Other than the slightly faster animations there isnt much to see. Just hopefully less crashes to be had.

'm just seeing a lot of visual updates. What happened to functionality?
Instead of new icons how about smarter and more manageable multi-tasking?
How about a Siri that doesn't leave me hanging for so long that I start typing before it's ready?

Who cares about a silly icon.
