iOS 6.1.3 had the SSL bug. Devices not iOS 7 were served 6.1.6. Others must go to iOS 7 or remain vulnerable.

iOS 6.1.3 is post Forestall IIRC

Evangelical to me is people constantly bugging users to like/use iOS 7.

There is a recent thread suggesting users who are dissatisfied with iOS 7 to jailbreak in lieu of buying android as some have stated the will.

Why would anyone care of an iOS user decided to go android?

I haven't seen any post in this thread where the poster was evangelical as described for any o/s version. If anything the thought process is: this is the way apple operates, don't like it there are options.

I agree why would anyone care if an iOS user went to android and unrelated, I think every o/a iteration is more secure than the last.

----------

Just as it's not so black or white when it comes to tell people who want to complaint that they should effectively just shut up or leave as far too many usually do, especially when it's so easy to avoid reading let alone posting in such threads if they aren't to someone's liking.

I think we beat this horse enough...:)

It's been a zombie horse for a long time. ;)

i7guy,

I'm not disregarding you. I took my MBA offline as US users reported being hacked too. Using my beloved old iBook G4 now to look at Apple support site. Hope all is well with macrumors users an no one gets hacked.

Regards

lol although I like iOS 7 more I don't know why this picture makes iOS 7 look crappy.

The colors in iOS 7 are overly saturated while the color palette in iOS 6 is toned down and has a more elegant and professional look.

The icons, dock and other UI elements actually look like a lot of thought and hard work was put into them. They give off the Apple vibe while iOS 7's flat and cartoon look doesn't.

Looking at the two side-by-side, I definitely prefer iOS 7 to iOS 6. iOS 6 feels like mid-2000's to me, I really like the flattening and simplification of iOS 7 so much more. I actually liked the neon green color of iOS 7, but they toned it down a bit in the 7.1 Update.

My household still has iOS 6 on 3 out of 4 iOS devices.

I hate iOS 7's design just as much as I did last June, and it was enough for me to put Apple off my radar. Thankfully, I was on Android full time since 2012.

Ever since playing around with a very old Mac many, many years ago, I was amazed by Apple's UI design. It just felt so refined, so understatedly classy, so much nicer than the technically beefier Wintel stuff. Year after year, Apple never failed to deliver on the UI front, even OS X 10.0 was surprisingly refined for a "revolution" product. Until June 10th, 2013.

I don't want to hear any rah-rah about modern/functional "flat" design. I still yet to hear any good arguments for it. I still don't understand how Helvetica Neue Light is a great choice as a system font. I still don't understand how 90s clipart is nicer than photorealistic icons. I still don't understand how a very badly implemented Web-style design defers to content. I still don't understand how these crazy neon colours are nice. I'm still not digging that yummy yellow on white.

Yes, flat UI design is a trend, but Windows Phone and Android have at least made an attempt to implement it well, and I never expected any remarkable UI work from Microsoft and Google. Apple has just ripped off UI assets from these systems, put that on top of the iOS' UI structure, slapped some cheesy FX on top of it and bounced some buzzwords about simplicity, clarity, no ornamentation, etc.

The exact same arguments have been used in defense of 60s-70s "functional" architecture. I don't want to fall prey to this nonsense. I don't want to overpay for hardware to get a UI that is a derivative of more bang-for-the-buck stuff. I don't want to convince myself that fast food UI design is modern and haute UI design is dated, "boxy", "clunky", "dark" and skeuomorphic.

I hate iOS 7.
literally this. right here.

The dock is just awful, it shoud be more translucent. The color palette is weird, but I've gotten used to it, I still prefer iOS 6 look though

Hint: It's the icons.

I actually find the overall design of iOS7 pretty neat. But the stock icons design... ugh just bad.
If there was any way to let the user change those ... it would be greatly appreciated.

In think you're right. The stock icons in iOS 7 aren't that great. Tbh I just don't like Notes, Newstand, reminders and Game Center. I don't know what the safari/photos not looking like a flower or whatever fuss is all about. Most people could care less

And you say that you like iOS 7.0? :)

I had a feeling someone would quote me for that part. I don't like the old looking background and the metallic blue and gray color of iOS6 because it looked dated to me. I like iOS 7 better design wise, just my take on this.

I hope they don't care too much. I know they could care less, I just hope they do soon.

Exactly. Well... I mean sure I don't like Newstand and sure I don't like notes but at the end of the day they still do what they're supposed to so I'm not gonna waste my time bitching about it cause Apple isn't and doesn't entertain my opinion. They'll change it if they feel so themselves. You know what I mean?

Haha, I was just sarcastically pointing out your misuse of the phrase "could care less". Big pet peeve of mine.

And I agree, they can do whatever they want with their software.

Interesting to see that the percentages for iOS 6 and 7 are about the same as the poll done here a while ago. People obviously don't change their opinions much!

While we can look at the numbers of the poll, its still a very high percentage of people who still prefer ios6. Especially since ios 7 has been out for such a long time.

I'll bet if you polled windows xp vs windows 7 there would be something similar in terms of percentage.

And don't forget the sample population is not exactly random.

I always preferred iOS6, but gave iOS 7 a fair chance. While iOS7 is alright, I vastly prefer iOS6. At first it was just the UI of 6 that I missed, but the more I used 7 the more I realized things I often used were worse. Mainly the notifications, for some reason the iOS7 only shows 4 notifications in one screen; want to see more you have to scroll. iOS6 fit twice that much in notification center, and I prefer the weather being on the same pulldown as the missed notifications. Too many tabs, less convenient.

Also not a fan of the call screen, I much preferred the old dialer with the numbers much closer to each other. And Im not sure what's with Apple and overuse of circles, but Im not a fan of that.

The swipe to go back feature is useful... if that hasn't been the way you swiped to delete stuff. Now for some users (me) its just trying to get used to swiping the opposite way that you've used to for the past 3 years. With that, I also don't like how the new delete button for mail is so big when you swipe. Its much less minimalistic imo.

Other minor differences here and there, I like Control Center for iOS7, and thats about it. The only other things I like are features that come with the new phones, such as burst picture and the touchID. Good thing jailbreaks exist :D

I agree,
such was the haste to make iOS 7 look different, it did so by sacrificing many key features.
