It really is insane how long iOS 7.1 is taking.

iOS 7.1 has been in beta longer than iOS 7.0 was.

Think about that. That's crazy. What's the hold up? As that chart shows, 7.1 has not only taken longer than every other .x release in iOS history, but it has actually taken longer than every x.0 release, with the exception of 2.0 and 5.0. And iOS 2.0 (known as iPhone OS 2 at the time) introduced the App Store, while iOS 5.0 introduced more new features than any other release in iOS history.

So what on Earth is taking 7.1 so long? Faster animations, a few minor GUI tweeks, and some efficiency improvements and bug squashes should NOT take this long. Unless there's some major new hidden feature in 7.1, this thing should have been out 2-3 months ago. It's getting kind of ridiculous.

From what I've read, its the iOS in the car feature that delayed the release

i thought iOS 7.1 was also supposed to be released this week not only because of the iTunes festival app but also carplay? like someone said if i got one of the new cars with this feature today or tomorrow and cant use it because it relies on 7.1 i would be pissed.
This week isn't over yet.

damn never seen dudes sweat an OS upgrade like this

The funny part is watching it come to a head everyday at this time then people stop posting for 12 hours.....rinse and repeat. All for a phone update for a phone that already works good enough. Yes 7.1 will be welcome but it's not life or death like people are making it out to be. B5 is working so well that I could care less when 7.1 comes out but, it will be to us before the end of the second week in March:)

You criticized two points about my post. That I unnecessarily injected hyperbole, and that I made an unqualified statement because of "blind faith" in Apple. Let's go over your posts shall we?

Hyperbole much? By saying that Apple releasing point updates is some sort of tacit admission of Apple that they messed up, I derived my opinion that you imply that software releases should be flawless, or that anyone that enjoys iOS 7 thinks it is flawless.

What level of quality? This seems like a subjective expectation rather than an objective one. In my subjective opinion, this is an unqualified statement. You are not an Apple engineer, nor are you privy to Apple's software release schedule or policies. In short, you don't know what you're talking about. Yet another unqualified statement. Also hyperbole, but who's keeping track at this point? Ah, here it is! This is certainly not hyperbole right? No one that thinks iOS 7 is fine could possibly be anything other than a fanboy! And you, being a professional developer, just know so much more than them. All you can do is pity the poor fanboys who can't see the increasingly evident issues that iOS 7 has without the eyes of a professional developer.

I'm more than open to have a discussion, but your posts are borderline trolling in their pretentiousness. People like iOS 7 and think it works fine because, to them, it does. Nothing more.

While I agree, partially, your post is also pretentiousness, considering you want to be regarded as more impressive, successful, or important than he is by calling him out and trying to validate your opinion by saying iOS 7 is "fine" for some.

iOS 7 isn't "fine" by any means... even if people choose to believe it is for them, they just don't care when an app crashes or iOS crashes, they simply re-open the app and move on with life.

So I received a message about trolling. I consider my posts more "tongue in cheek" but whatever. My point is that many on this thread are acting like 7.1 is the savior of all iOS issues. It won't be. No more than any other X.1 release has been.
Or more than previous x.1 releases.

Again, not all people whom own an iOs device are devs, or have a beta installed on their device. I don't. I'd sure like to see 7.1, so I can be as happy as you.

7.1 is a nice bump but I would still be happy if I didn't have it.

Maybe you don't experience as many crashes?

For me, safari crashes a couple times a day, ITunes Radio crashes maybe 20% of the time when I resume and once or twice a week a random app (usually a game) freezes and the boot screen pops up.

This hasn't driven me into despair or anything but I'd be pretty unhappy if Apple decided not to fix these issues, especially after having a very stable iOS6.

You are probably correct there. However it will be a substantial improvement over the current release. At least for most.

Well first I think you mean my post is pretentious. But I don't want to be regarded as more impressive, just to point out the flaws of his posts and reasoning. It's a discussion forum.

That said, I generally agree that 7.1 is a much needed update, but others really aren't having any problems. Some friends of mine have not a complaint in the world about the software, I have at least a dozen. But that's just me (and others on this board). There's no use in telling someone they are wrong for not having any issues with the software.

While I agree, again, just because you're friends don't have complaints, doesn't mean the issues aren't there. They probably don't notice them (maybe oblivious) or maybe the don't care, who knows but iOS 7 is plagued with issues. Don't even get me started on the Music App of iOS7.

7.1 isn't THAT much better either. In fact, some things are worse and have regressed.

Well that's disheartening. Any examples?

haha seriously, this is the type of stuff that gives iphone users the bad rep. it's just a freaking OS there should be more important stuff in your life to worry about.

could care less about 7.1, it doesn't even look that special anyway. very happy with my jailbreaked 7.0.6.

its weird that so many people complain about ios 7 yet android sells in millions

people have different criteria, some just dont care. thats why toyota sells more than bmw and android sells more than apple

please try galaxy young, probably the most selling android, for a week than come back to me

Obviously, it's all subjective, but the call screens... wow. Hideous.
The turning off method, it fades to black and you can faintly see the spinning wheel, it use to be very visible until complete shut down. Not its barely noticeable but there.

Music app is still trash but thankfully they added Shuffle back to the genre menu.

Only thing I can say is actually better, is the faster animations.

iPhone users get a bad reputation because we care about the details? Well, color me picky or meticulous, I do care about great software/hardware/products.

Also, I could also care less about iOS 7.1. I actually care quite a lot.

its getting to the point where its out when its out  i hope its just worth the wait and we wont be disappointed meaning its still buggy and unstable!

Soooo.... a lot of subjective "bad" and a lot and important objective good.

Seems fine with me. Cant wait for 7.1.

Here we go again in 15 minutes. Ready for disappointment.

LMAO!!! Like I said before next week at the earliest, if it was gonna be this week I am sure it would have already happened. 7.1 beta 5 is awesome...... And it only costed me 2.99 to register my UDID. I quick google search will help if you are interested in going that route
