Looking at the background behind the 7, is there any way that could mean anything regarding the new Mac Pro?

It's a term used in betting, and it's become an idiom. Literally it means doubling your bet, risking twice the money because you think you're going to win.

Figuratively, it means Apple is going to get even more secretive than they have been in the past.

thx :)

mac pro is going to be there...and tim cook... maybe he wants to tell everyone that he had been a good person this year.

Edited: maybe he wanted to tell developers that apple had the highest lawsuit encounters.

Polarizing is good. Apple products aren't meant for everyone. Certainly not for people with bad taste.

But at the same time, when I think Apple, I think about a company that makes products that people like at first sight. I think iOS 7 might look odd at first, for like half a second, then it'll look amazing. I know... I'm dreaming...

Agree with this sentiment. I didn't know what to think of the iPhone 5's design at first, but now I think the two tone look is gorgeous.

I think iOS 7 might be the same for me....I won't be able to form an opinion, and then it will dawn on me later what a great iOS it is. :)

snip...I am tired of these so-called "pundits" who know as much as any of us do, yet keep trying to surround themselves in an aura of "holier than thou" knowledge just because they are friends with one or two Apple employees. ...
Simple solution. Step away from the screen. No one cares what you are tired of.

And none of that has to do with merging of iOS and OSX.

And FTY the UI standards *should* be the same across iOS and OSX but that doesn't mean Springboard of Finder should be identical.

There is much more to an OS than Springboard or finder.

Of course they should use the same "UI language" on both OS X and iOS, and that's what they really started doing with Mountain Lion (or was it Lion, can't remember which one exactly). It's great that they use some similar visual cues and "translate" some functionnality from one to another.

But there is no point of unifying it to the point where there is only a OS we could call iOSX, where we would install the same basic OS on iPhones, iPads and Macs. Having different OS force developpers to make a distinction and try to optimize apps for one or another, not merely porting "Office with bigger buttons" on a tablet and call it a day !

Have to agree on this one. The Clock in Android 4.2.2 is not a great (or even good) app.

Their built in clock widget is great but the clock, timer and lap timer are pretty bad.

Are we seriously arguing ones superiority because one has a better clock!?

You DO realize how Mickey Mouse that sounds. If we're going to be that critical, then let's go as far to say that all watches with moving hands are superior to digital ones because horologists like timepieces with physical movement, and therefore, MUST be right.

Come the eff on...

so he claims to know "very little" yet "all the leaks are wrong". Sure buddy.

I hope we see:
iOS 7 dev preview
10.9 dev preview
new Mac Pro
refreshed rMPB
new rMBA
new full size iPad
iPhone 5S

Is that too much to ask?

That's silly. NDAs are signed by people who work for a company that mandates NDAs. Gruber doesn't work for Apple, therefore, is not under any legal obligation to keep it secret. Also, Apple employees aren't allowed by contract to even hold a podcast, blogs, or post to technical forums remotely related to speculation of possible future products. Think about it; he'd already be out of a job.

Yes, surely he is rarely under NDA's. But Gruber was given an advanced briefing in February 2012 on Mountain Lion. Surely he must have had some type of NDA-type agreement in place so that he was legally bound not to disclose information until Apple lifted the embargo on ML. It's not that far fetched ;)

Yep. Pick 3 (the rMBP and MBA could count as 1 if that helps)

It's almost like the content makers want money for... making content.

They should just do it for free, right?

Nope. I don't have a problem with page ads. But now video ads. Many times I click on a link that takes me to YouTube to watch some short clip. When that pre-video ad comes up I just close the tab because I don't want to wait.

So many different ways to present ads:
1. Ad at the header of the page
2. Ad at the left side of the page
3. Ad at the right side of the page
4. Ad at the footer of the page
5. Now, we have pre-video ads
6. And finally in play video ads
7. Oh, I forgot, in video ads that keep coming back after you click the X to close it.

I was perfectly fine with ads on the right side of the page like in facebook or gmail. Its visible, its there, I can see it, I can read it, and if I am interested in it, I will click on it. But to force an ad to your face, thats where I have a problem.

Alllllllll the leaks you know are wrong. Black is white, up is down, and short is long.

...Someone out there understands my Weird Al reference...

Bad Hair Day was a great album. And that song so fits in here very well.

Is the Mac Pro up to 6,1 yet? Just wondering if that 7 means Mac Pro 7,1

It'd be a pretty stupid move for Apple to confuse the iOS userbase (likely hundreds of thousands times higher than the MacPro userbase).

Gruber saying nothing equals news I guess. Hey Gruber had a burrito for lunch too.

One other thought here.. we may see some hardware announcements come later in the day, or the next day, because, if they are going to talk about iOS7, OSX, iRadio, MacBooks, MacPros... that's a lot to talk about during a normal keynote...

Any news on whether or not they'll be live streaming the event through Apple TV? When will we know if they are or not?

Do you want an incredibly annoying ad that you might accidentally click if the app lags? Yeah, that'd be way better than a video one

Well, the keynote is 2 hours long.
