Let me be clear on this: if he knows nothing, he should just keep quiet instead of fishing for Daring Fireball website hits.
1. He knows that someone at Apple told him that "all the leaks are wrong"
2. He never posted this on Daring Fireball, Twitter, or indeed anywhere, so what "fishing for website hits" is he doing?
3. The tip that "all the leaks are wrong" was literally mentioned by him in a throwaway, offhand manner during a 1h 30m podcast, of which this discussion took up about 30 seconds.
I am tired of these so-called "pundits" who know as much as any of us do
So am I.
Gruber isn't one of these pundits.
yet keep trying to surround themselves in an aura of "holier than thou" knowledge just because they are friends with one or two Apple employees.
You seem to be projecting personality traits and behaviours which Gruber simply doesn't exhibit here.
Whatever he said means nothing and cannot be proven either way...in other words, as relevant as any other rumor expressed in this thread.
Correct. You've arrived at the right conclusion, in a roundabout manner.
Don't blame Gruber for the fact that a snippet of some banter he had in a podcast was taken and made into headline news on your favourite Apple site on the eve of WWDC.
Don't blame Gruber for the fact that you failed to read the article and check the source before saying OMGZ GRUBEZ SUCKS WHAT A IDIOT GOD I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS PINDUTS THESE DAYS.
Me? I choose to listen to Gruber because he knows what he's on about, because he works for himself and not some crappy tech news conglomerate, and because he has a perfect track record with regards to these minor Apple leaks and tidbits.
You can choose to dismiss him if you like, but don't be a
dingus.
