I think we'll definitely see animations get sped up whether it be in beta 6 or the GM.

Start watching the keynote at 1:17:50 and watch how fast the weather app opens at about 1:17:55.

Haven't seen an actual picture of the white reboot screen that was new with beta 5. So thought I would post a quick picture from the beta 6 update.

Beta 5 has an odd bug on my iPad 2, opening the Smart Cover causes it to respring. Quite an annoying bug that didn't exist in earlier betas.

I wonder then if we will still get a beta 7 if the one released today was a hot fix, or if that's it until GM, since various sources previously stated there was only one more beta.

Fully expecting a beta 7 at some point next week. Beta 6 was just a small but critical fix that couldn't wait.

We would expect a beta 7. When the prediction was made that beta 6 would be the final before the GM, they did not have the foresight that a hotfix would be released. Therefore, the beta 6 released last night was not the expected beta 6 release, a more improvement/bug fix-complete beta, beta 7, will be released next week (hypothetically.)

You have to wonder though, if they didn't have the foresight about a hotfix would it be that much more likely that they do have some sort of foresight into any other betas? If a report about the schedule was published just hours before the hotfix was actually released, that's a whole lot of not knowing of something that was clearly already in the works at least hours before when the report was published.

Maybe the bug was discovered and patched after the report. It's also possible the source didn't know about the hotfix.

If the source didn't know about the hotfix, what else could the source not really know about? Also, if the report was released hours before the hotfix was released (which means that the hotfix was already in the works at the time the report was just being released) it's kind of strange not to know about it if you really have actual insider information.

All I'm saying is that insider or not, it doesn't really mean anyone actually really knows anything. And even if some or most things fit with what some insider has shared, it might in the end be closer to some guessing than anything else. Insider information (as in if it's known to actually be insider information) isn't to be completely discounted, but at the same time can't fully be trusted either since even if it's 100% true at the time of "leak" things change all the time.

Whatever. Not really a big deal lol

That's true too. It's all mostly guessing until Apple says for sure one way or another, so until that happens none of it really matters much.

Well it's not guessing really when there's sources :p developer betas tend to be a few builds behind the internal builds, so they can plan a rough schedule to lead to GM.

But sources that don't necessarily really know everything themselves either.

They must know something, since a lot of the time they are right. Just like the sources saying about the announcement on 10th, with GM that day.

Mind you, I forget that you like to poo poo any conversation about when things come out unless Tim Cook tells you what's happening himself :p

Some sources are more trustworthy than others (and often those sources simply--and I do mean simply--might comment on larger things, like dates of announcements, and not really next beta releases or something "minor" like that).

People just like to get their hopes up based on various "sources", and often based on nothing really at all except for some guesses...I guess there's nothing really wrong with that, but then there's really nothing wrong with pointing out that in quite a few cases it's just wishful thinking. While sources might have some valid information here and there, there are times when they don't, so going simply based on them and not really considering a fairly decent possibility that they can actually (and at least sometimes) be wrong, is not exactly all that useful.
