lol jailbreak comunity proved you wrong. All these kind of effects are running smooth on jailbroken iPhone4. Install weather app few posts above, its running perfectly smooth but Apple stock weather app cannot.

And that weather app from a few posts above is made by a romanian.

Also "Parallax" from cydia is a tweak made in 2010 for iphone 4 and it works great and there is also FastBlurredNC by ryan petrich which makes the notification center blurred and also transparent.

As a jailbreak will reportedly be already available late September (said @planetbeing), I don't care if blurs are not available. jailbreakers will very soon release tweaks to get those.

Looking forward to getting myself a new iPhone after choosing to skip the 5. My 4 is feeling so old and clunky now, bring on 5S and iOS 7!

I'll stand by what I said earlier. Beta 5 runs almost perfectly on the iPhone 4. Just as smooth as iOS 6. Ya'll are crazy saying animations lag.

Can't tell if you're joking or you just have vision problems.

Neither! I'm serious. I can open any app, press home, and the animation fades out perfectly. What 'lag' are you experiencing? It starts fading out as soon as I hit home, the animation itself might not be lightning quick, but that's set from Apple. I'm not waiting for half a second for any apps to close. My searches in Spotlight are fine, and things pop up as I begin typing the words fine. I can type in Safari fine, actually I think Safari on iOS 7 is better than it has been in any version of iOS. I'm not seeing it. Maybe you've got a buggy install or something?

Funny that you say that. Indeed, next to an iPhone 5, the 4 looks outdated.. but on its own I think it still looks very neat and stylish. The glass all around; a proper piece of hardware in your hand... I still really like my iPhone :)
Cudos to Apple for making such a great design, and for having iOS7 support it!

Vision problems. I haven't tested iOS7 yet but claiming that iOS6 is running smoothly on the iPhone 4 backs up my statement. Not as bad as running iOS4 on the iPhone 3G but certainly far from running perfectly.

I made a video on youtube. Ios 7 beta 4 on iphone 4, it's in 1080p, tell me if you notice any lag ok? I know we are talking about beta 5 but just check the beta 4 and tell me what you think and no, I am not promoting my video or my channel.

Didn't look bad at all. I'm on an iPhone 4 right now as a backup until I can upgrade, but that looked to be about as fast as 4.2.2 ran on my galaxy nexus.

The iPhone 4 ran iOS 6 like butter. Ya'll are seriously veering into fanboy territory in my opinion claming that it doesn't.

What the iPhone 5 does better than the rest is process apps. It opens them quicker. I'm not talking about speed of opening Safari with 15 tabs or the speed of launching a graphic intensive game. The iPhone 4 runs iOS 6, the operating system just fine. No lag. It's why I haven't upgraded from the iPhone 4. Other than Siri and a better camera it really has nothing I need, because the iPhone 4 is still capable of running everything. When it isn't, I'll upgrade.

I'm just a bit miffed that Apple is implying a simple blurred layer would compromise the user experience.

So, should iphone 4 owners upgrade to ios 7 ? After all this time I don't think there will be any improvements in the GM.

I realize that the A4 GPU will never be competent to handle blurring or complicated animations, but my word does iOS 7 on an iPhone 4 suck. I just fresh installed Beta 6 and played with it. Safari tabs are surprisingly smooth, but literally everything else stutters. There's touch delay, lag, and a general choppiness that makes it a pretty atrocious experience.

How do you know it runs just as smooth if you only have the iPhone 4? I can tell if an iPhone is a 4 by animation lag.
