You are complaining about lack of animations on the 4 while simultaneously acknowledging that it is slow?

I still use the 4 and I thought it was slow the day I got it.

How could they release this for iPhone4 in first place. They shouldve said its only iPhone5 compatible, because I've seen it on 4S, same **** there. iOS6 isnt 3 years old still its smooth sail.

1) iOS 6 on iPhone 4 is also missing some of iOS 6's best features.

2) I've used it on a 4S. Everything you said that's on the iPhone 4 is not on the 4S. it's perfectly fine on a 4S.

3) Ever heard of the term "beta"?

Force you??? In what way do they force you? Ending updates? That's not forcing....hell, 37% of Android users [stats from the WWDC Keynote] are using Gingerbread, a version released 3 years ago. Do they feel forced to upgrade? Probably not.

People just update because they WANT to. Back in the day, things did work for years and years...and they still do now. People just have a bigger hunger for superfluous spending, so the iPhone 5 itself is seen as 'outdated' a day after its release just because the competition releases some brand new device.

I dont mind to be left in ios6 :)

But I bet these animations can be run on iphone 4, just they left out on purpose. Like siri, 3d views in maps, panorama shoot and similar things...

No live/animated lockscreen
No 3D background on homescreen
No transparency
No weather effects
No nothing
Slow as hell, 3fps animations, scrolling etc

What did they do to iOS. :(

If I wanted this I'd get android. Getting back to beautiful iOS6.

I hear yah! Same on mine :p Im buying the 5 soon so it doesnt bother me as much!

I have been testing it on my iP4 since last night.

The OP is incorrenct - there *is* transparency. You can see it behind the control center. Or you can see the wallpaper slightly from folders. Or through the new keyboard.

What it isn't doing is taking on the color of the wallpaper like it's supposed to. Everything stays gray. Hoping just a bug.

The OP is talking about the spring board, and the 3D effect from the home screen. I would know because I have an iPhone 4 and none of those features work, as I suspected.

Correct, there is transparency but it's all kinda gray. I hope it's a bug but I'm not holding out. Also my iPhone 4 seems to be running faster with iOS 7 today after a quick restart, does anyone know if iOS had to index files or something after an install? Mine was slow and hot after the install but now it's doing great, he'll I'm using it now :)

Care to back up your claim?

iPhone 3GS Soc: 600Mhz Arm Cortex A8 Samsung S5PC100,

GPU: PowerVR SGX535

iPhone 4 Soc: 800Mhz ARM Cortex A8 Apple A4 manufactured by Samsung. Just a slightly more power efficient version of what was in the 3GS clocked 200Mhz faster with the name A4 slapped on.

GPU: PowerVR SGX535

For them to push iOS 7 to iPhone 4 users and have it look like crap with a gray springboard 24/7 would make little sense.

Here's to hoping they just forgot some files to make the dock and folders more transparent. It's obvious the phone can handle it because you can see things underneath the current windows, it's just gray.

Are you blind?, laterally. Even the keyboard lags and safari is unuseable. Hope you are right about that restart.

Am I blind? No, lol.. Yes the keyboard was very laggy at first and I almost regretted my decision but it's running great now. Maybe just a tad slower than iOS 6, but hey, this is Beta 1.

One thing I do notice is the volume slider seems very buggy for some reason, like it's not reading my finger slides correctly.

Nothing will change because same beta ios7 running on iphone 5 without any lags.

Do you really think something's gonna change till final release?

Considering this is BETA 1 and there is a long way to go yes

Things will get greatly optimized the many minor glitches will get fixed

Praying Safari icon is replaced

but honestly Apple bothering to support a device that is about to be 3 generations old at the launch of iOS7 is something special as it is. Android is a crapshoot with support that far back, and even if there is its fragmented all over the place different manufacturers may not get to it right away or at all ...

iOS 7 is overall blow away compared to iOS 6. It honestly feels as if most of it has been rewritten to some extent, and I haven't had too many big issues in BETA 1.

If you want to claim anything about how it performs on a device wait till final release when most of the OS coding will be optimized and things should run better.

This is the update iOS needed, just hoping some of the icon graphics get repaired

When Apple leaves a device out people complain. When Apple gives an update to people with older devices people complain that it doesn't run like the latest -_-

I'm happy for this thread. the woman wants her iPhone 4 updated, and I told her it will probably make it more sluggish then it already is.

Interested what others have to say as well. Its not a big deal if he is complaining.

Beta 1 has hiccups on my iPhone 5 as well. They will work it out over time.

Since last night I have restored and installed iOS 7 at least 3 additional times. I know this sounds like it is in my head - but I swear it is running much smoother now. The animations aren't laggy, going in and out of settings menus no longer lags, scrolling through menus no longer lags etc. Not nearly as much as before.

Still can't get iMessage activated though, and I'm getting pretty upset about it, lol.

Yeah, it's extremely laggy - I updated my old 4 to see what it was like, not wanting to risk my JB iPhone 5 just yet...

it's a pity because it makes it harder to decide whether or not I want to risk it on my 5, but everything is very laggy and jittery, which makes it hard to really evaluate anything.

Even though this is a beta, there is a possibility that some things won't change ..

This isn't the first time after all that Apple has shipped an OS to a product with performance issues .. In addition to that, I think that it is safe to say that iPhone 4 won't be getting most of the features of iOS7 ..

I tried iOS7 on my iPhone 4 and I downgraded back to iOS6 the same day .. The look of the OS without the reflections is terrible at the home screen (everything else looks nice though) and the performance is really laggy especially when using features like the new multitasking ..

I really hope that the final build will be much better but I'm afraid that iOS7 will never be as good as iOS6 (performance-wise) for the iPhone 4 .. In that case I think that a lot of users (me included) will stay with iOS6 ..

Why is ios 7 so laggy on iphone 4?

Even iphone 2g on 3.1.3 and iphone 3g on 4.2.1 aren't that laggy and slow. They disabled most of the animations on iphone 4, and don't give me the " it s a beta" cause ios 6 beta 1 was super smooth and fast.

Just because iOS 6 beta 1 was smooth, doesn't mean that iOS 7 beta 1 will be smooth.

It's a beta operating system with a ground up rebuild of effects, graphics, and tweaks. It will have more bugs and performance issues than previous versions, and performance and battery are the last things to be tweaked.

I assume it's just that the processor can't keep up with it. I had it on my 4 and my phone was unbearable to use. I think that there is also
not enough RAM to handle idk that's just my opinion. Also comparing iOS 7 to iOS 6 will server no justice. It is evident that iOS 7 packs more features which can be seen in the 1.1 GB as opposed to around 800 MB iOS 6 IPSW. I also don't think the background refresh feature helps make matters any better.

Yesterday I also tried iOS 7 on my iPhone 4 GSM 32GB and indeed, slow as hell, iPhone crashed and downgraded back to iOS 6 the same day.

I think a lot of people will stick with iOS 6.x
