I loaded it on my old 4 last night. So slow and makes me hate iOS 7. I think part of my distaste is using that tiny screen when I'm used to the 5.

Yesterday I also tried iOS 7 on my iPhone 4 GSM 32GB and indeed, slow as hell, iPhone crashed and downgraded back to iOS 6 the same day.

I think a lot of people will stick with iOS 6.x

I think a lot of people won't be using the first beta to make final conclusions, they'll be using it when it's actually released to the public and the code is optimized.

You get to learn the same lesson that I did with my 3G back in the day :)

Buying old hardware to save money is a badddd idea. And if you did buy the 4 when it came out, congratulations, your eligible for an upgrade

Stop complaining. Your running 3- year old hardware. The 4S was 2X as fast as the 4, and the 5 is 2X as fast as the 4S, and as I run the beta it's obvious that this so was designed and optimized for a phone that's 2x as fast as the 5.

I remember iOS 6 being just as laggy on the iPhone 4 when the first beta came out and it runs smoothly now.

I'm sure the final version of iOS 7 will run smoothly too.

No live/animated lockscreen
No 3D background on homescreen
No transparency
No weather effects
No nothing
Slow as hell, 3fps animations, scrolling etc

What did they do to iOS. :(

If I wanted this I'd get android. Getting back to beautiful iOS6.

Can not expect much on a 3 Year old device, I think it should run ok on the 4S, 5, but the 4 will be much slower, iOS5 barely runs at a glacial pace on the 4, but it is doable.

It will be interesting to see if Apple phases out the iPhone 4 after the 5S comes out? I can see the 4S going to Free, and the 5 to $99, but there are a lot of IP4's out there and Apple still sells a ton of them.

We just need the new standard to go to 32GB from 16, it is just not enough space considering you only start out at 13.4 GB after you setup the phones.

Everything on this list works on the iPhone 4S.

Can someone with a 4S post a screenshot of the springboard?

I was testing it on my ip4 and i agree with the OP. seems its ilke a slimmed down version and i can see why. My home button is having issues actually going to home. ah well look out for beta 2

Are you blind?, laterally. Even the keyboard lags and safari is unuseable. Hope you are right about that restart.

Just restore (not update) the phone with iOS 7, the performance increase is profound. Leaving at least 2gb of free storage will also do wonders

How can I get push notification to work on a 4s? It keeps saying I need to connect to iTunes.

With the exception of the bugs that come with a beta, it's just fine on a 4S and a 5.

I should know, I have it on both.

Scrolling in the Phone app and FaceTime app is choppy, but is fine in all other apps (Settings is fluid and fast for example).

Launching Safari and Music apps results in a little lag at the tail end of the animation, but all other app are fluid and smooth.

This is on a 4S.

It's not "just fine", but it's only beta 1. If these were system wide slowdowns like on iPhone 4, I'd be concerned but it's not so I'm not.

Edit: Just noticed that the lag on launching apps only occurs in the animations of those launching from the dock. Move them out and they launch smooth as the rest.

Why is everybody dogpiling the OP for posting about how slow the iP4 is with iOS7? Isn't that why we have internet forums, so people can share information about things?

Even iphone 2g on 3.1.3 and iphone 3g on 4.2.1 aren't that laggy and slow. They disabled most of the animations on iphone 4, and don't give me the " it s a beta" cause ios 6 beta 1 was super smooth and fast.

There were plenty of bugs, and reports of Speed issues in iOS6 Beta 1.

The iOS 6 Beta 1: Current Bugs & Flaws Thread also has people compiling about lag, and slow text input response on some devices.

That phone is nearly 3 years old... you are lucky to even get an update from Android after 1 year on a device they sell. The hardware cant keep up with the new OS. What did you expect a smooth sail?

wow. that killed the thread pretty fast lol.

To be honest it's the only device getting the upgrade that has the A4. So I wouldn't expect it to be great.

How could they release this for iPhone4 in first place. They shouldve said its only iPhone5 compatible, because I've seen it on 4S, same **** there. iOS6 isnt 3 years old still its smooth sail.

wtf all those features you posted work in the iphone 4s.

We understand, you are butthurt because the second poster made you look foolish with the point of your device being 3 years old. And now you are grasping thin air trying to redeem yourself with anything you can muster up.

you have big cajones complaining about flawless execution on a device that's three years old with a new OS. HUGE.

I beg to differ about the 4S. I have it installed on mine an aside from a few animation glitches, it's pretty stable and quick. Far from unusable. And I updated rather than restored.

You surely enjoy iOS7 on your brand new 4S device, aswell. :p

https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/17405208/

what are you trying to say, that im lying? i have a 4s and a 5, and they run great. more on the 5 than the 4s, but the 4s is still pretty good. why don't you quote MY post and send it to that guy. it seems like thats how you think you can prove a point? lol

And the point of this thread doesn't even make sense. This is a beta ffs! released a couple days ago..my god. And for you to make statements like "i should get android" are kind of pre/immature. dont you think?
