iOS 7 "Software Update Failed"

on new iPad updating from 6.1.3...

tapped Download and Install, agreed to T&C, then get the "Software Update Failed" error which only gives option to cancel or redirect to settings.

tried 10+ times over last five minutes with no luck.

fyi, i have 4.0GB avail and says you only need 3.4GB so i don't think that's the issue...

anyone else?

Just wondering, does it tell you the build number?

i see your point and that is likely the reason, but i also think if it's indeed widespread, the community should know they aren't alone (myself included).
 
Happend on my iphone 5 too several times in a row, is that a server fault or my phone software's fault? I once downloaded one of the ios7 betas and then downgraded back to ios6, maybe the ips file i got for ios 6 was corrupt or smth?

I appreciate you starting this thread...I thought there was something wrong with my iPhone.
 
Heh - I'm trying through iTunes (11.1) and it's telling me 6.1.3 is the latest software.....

I'm on a 4S FYI.
 
Its bound to happen with everyone trying to update at the same time. I've tried 3-4 times and it keeps saying failed.

Tried again and its not failed yet...
 
Mine had ten minutes to go, then failed. I started it again and now it says 16 minutes remaining. I'm assuming it will fail again, I haven't seen many successes with the iPad yet.
 
Same problem....

I thought it was just me at first, but thank you for this thread. I tried to update my ipad 2 and iphone 5 but it keeps giving me Software Update Failed notice.😡😡🙁🙁🙁😎😱😕 Atleast i'm not alone.!
 
Relax - this happens every year for almost every full iOS update. Will calm down over the next few hours or so.

Even these forums are getting hammered at the moment with the ios7 excitement!

reboot your phone then try again
 
Be patient

all

there must be huge demand on the servers so if you get the error keep trying and it will download 🙂
