Doesn't really surprise me. I'm not judging those that have complained, or experienced the motion sickness. I don't know their health issues, nor do I want too. But this is the same society/individuals that have complained about other peoples perfume/cologne, and now there are policies implemented in companies about overuse of both, or downright forbidding the use of them. It's also the same one's that sued a fast food chain over "excessively hot coffee" and WON!

Never underestimate the lengths people will go to seek attention or $$$.

If there is one thing that forums, especially Apple forums, bring out is a bunch of ignorant goofs who judge the world by themselves. Whether the subject is a glitch in newly released hardware or a software issue it appears pretty easy to activate the "not me, therefore not" kids.

Sometimes I could swear that almost an entire thread has been populated by posters 14 years old or younger. "I mean really, if it's not happening to me then there must be something wrong with those actually experiencing the condition".

Most likely these are the same denizens that flock to threads criticizing non-Apple products and even criticizing threads about non-Apple products. Reading that stuff makes me feel very grown up.

iOS 7 has a web browser, which allowed me to accidentally run into porn. Shame on you Apple...

The things people will complain about. Next up in the news. Mac user complain about wallpapers.

I upgraded to iOS 7 and the traffic on the way home that evening was horrible....obviously it's the map program...

While I didn't notice any problems with parallax, it turns out that my wife said she had a headache when I made a move...damn Apple...

iOS7 Gave me an Orgasm. Glad I had that and not your diarrhea ;)

iOS 7 got my girlfriend pregnant, beat me up, and stole my lunch money.

As a side note, if any of my employees whined to me that they were sick and wanted to go home early from motion sickness due to iOS7 they could use that extra time off to search for a new job. People are getting too soft in today's age, and I'll not see myself giving in or promoting that mindset.

Disappointed about the lack of empathy for people with disabilities on this thread

To all the people making fun of others struggling with the incessant and unnecessary animations in iOS 7, you all should be ashamed of yourselves. It sounds like most of you take your health for granted - not everyone is so lucky. I suffer from bouts of dizziness, vertigo, and migraines stemming from a medical condition. As Apple has always prided itself on its catering to those with disabilities, I for one am disheartened by the aesthetic animation changes in iOS 7, especially when unlocking the phone and switching between apps. In addition, these animations take significantly longer, are distracting, and quite simply, it's just makes for a poor GUI. This is something that everyone should be concerned with. Nobody can argue that efficiency is diminished in iOS 7 compared to 6 - tasks just take longer because of these silly superfluous animations. There is a simple solution to this problem: allow the disablement of the animations from the Accessibility section of the settings. (Currently, there is only an option to disable parallax.)

This is exactly like those reports that The Hobbit in HFR was making people nauseous. Except in this case, the reports may actually have some merit. Those zoom animations are pretty taxing on your mind.

This sums up my iOS7 experience:

You know what this is? And I am serious! Lack of exercise... I started going to the gym a few months ago (since I work with IT like I believe most of you guys here I tend to sit for 9+ hours/day). I noticed my equilibrium/balance has improved a lot just to go there and run/bicycle even a few minutes a day. Before any kind of "weird" movement in games, movies, would kinda give me motion sickness. Now it stopped! I strongly recommend those people moving their f*t asses of the chair and hit the gym!!

You guys, this is a GOOD thing. It means that Apple could implement an option in 7.1.x to disable the animation, or to speed it up, which is a huge win for anyone who finds that the animations are a bit too slow.

Personally I want to disable all these animations. Makes the interface slower than it really is.

I just want to go pop-pop-pop between apps. Don't need the whole zooming effect.

How many of these same "complainers" boldly asserted that iOS 7 was copied from Android.

I know it happens that some sensitive people get motion sick from e.g. FPS games. But it's quite some way from zipping around a game world in multiplayer with a rocket launcher compared to opening Safari on iOS. I've never heard anything like this, but I'm not surprised the first time I heard a complaint about it was regarding an Apple device. Wow...

anecdotal evidence is still not evidence.

No kidding, I guess they don't drive, watch TV, walk around, go shopping ...

... you know, since the real world is filled with parallax scrolling and zooming effects.

In real-time and ultra ultra-high-definition that fills your field of view :D

I don't doubt there might be a few people who have issues with iOS 7 parallax/animations. But like with everything Apple it gets blown way out of proportion.

Socialism...

It might be wise to realize that the following people might not have been able to function in society and achieve what they achieved if "survival of the fittest" was the way forward:

  • Alexander Graham Bell (learning disability)
  • Thomas Edison (Slightly deaf, learning disability)
  • Albert Einstein (Aspbergers Syndrome, possibly dyslexic)
  • Henry Ford (Dyslexic)
  • Stephen Hawking (Motor neurone disease)
  • Isaac Newton (Stutter, epilepsy)
  • Leonardo Da Vinci (dyslexic)
  • Pythagoras (epilepsy)
  • H.G. Wells (diabetes)
