Guys. Don't hate.

I have experienced this from day 1. Couldn't understand it at the time

The animation is nice the first time u see it- not so great when you face it 200 times a day!

This doesn't disable the transitions between switching apps. That disables the background moving very slightly.

The complaints are real, unless you have the condition... you wouldn't understand. It doesn't really bother me but I can see it bothering some people. Apple just needs to include a setting to turn off transitions... problem solved.
I agree, it doesn't bother me either, but I can certainly understand how it would bother some.

I would prefer to turn off the effects, just because animation slows things down.

While active complaints are a bit over the top to me, I find all the motion and animations to just be cruft that I don't want. Wherever I can, be it iOS, Windows, OS X, Linux, I disable as many animations as I can, or switch to the simplest ones if there is no option to disable. I would love for Apple to add to the reduce motion option, it already is not just a toggle, to allow full disable of all those effects.

I used to nearly puke playing DOOM. You eventually get over it. If not, oh well, buy something else.

"Another user, nybe, writes, "I had to go home 'sick' from work because of the intense nausea due to using my iPhone with iOS 7."

I'm curious to know what type of "work" nybe does where he/she can leave work from getting "sick" after staring at their iPhone?

What a bunch of friggin pansies.

In other words, people want boring iOS back...Hopefully Apple doesn't remove the eye candy because some people have strange issues.

----------

If someone went to their line manager in our office and said "I need to go home, I feel dizzy after using my iPhone" they'd be told to sit back down and get on with their work.

Unbelieve example of corporate laziness and opportunism to take time off "sick".

I'd get fired for saying something stupid like that.

To all the people making fun of others struggling with the incessant and unnecessary animations in iOS 7, you all should be ashamed of yourselves. It sounds like most of you take your health for granted - not everyone is so lucky. I suffer from bouts of dizziness, vertigo, and migraines stemming from a medical condition. As Apple has always prided itself on its catering to those with disabilities, I for one am disheartened by the aesthetic animation changes in iOS 7, especially when unlocking the phone and switching between apps. In addition, these animations take significantly longer, are distracting, and quite simply, it's just makes for a poor GUI. This is something that everyone should be concerned with. Nobody can argue that efficiency is diminished in iOS 7 compared to 6 - tasks just take longer because of these silly superfluous animations. There is a simple solution to this problem: allow the disablement of the animations from the Accessibility section of the settings. (Currently, there is only an option to disable parallax.)

While I understand there are people that struggle with this, I also believe it's a moot point. Yes the animations are new but iOS 6 also had animations. There are animations on television, video games, pretty much anything with a screen these days. If you are too stupid to test drive the phone before you buy it having knowledge that you have this disability, then shame on YOU. Even walking requires motion. The condition sucks granted, but people complaining deserve what they get. The level of entitlement people feel they have a right to these days is disgusting. So feel free to be ashamed of me for saying it, it won't hurt my feelings one bit.

Easy for all the folks who don't suffer from this to laugh and/or write the complaints off as ridiculous....but rest assured if it was happening to you personally, you would complain.

The motion doesn't affect me, but I have empathy for those who do. The zooming is over the top and unnecessary. I get car sick from looking at a phone in the back seat of a car, so I don't do it....but for people who had iPhones already, should they not be upset that the new operating system makes them motion sick, and there is no way to turn it off?

It might be wise to realize that the following people might not have been able to function in society and achieve what they achieved if "survival of the fittest" was the way forward:

  • Alexander Graham Bell (learning disability)
  • Thomas Edison (Slightly deaf, learning disability)
  • Albert Einstein (Aspbergers Syndrome, possibly dyslexic)
  • Henry Ford (Dyslexic)
  • Stephen Hawking (Motor neurone disease)
  • Isaac Newton (Stutter, epilepsy)
  • Leonardo Da Vinci (dyslexic)
  • Pythagoras (epilepsy)
  • H.G. Wells (diabetes)

And none of those guys would have had any issue with iOS7. Frankly it's insulting to everyone on that list to compare them with Random Guy Who Gets Nauseous Looking at his Phone.

Don't laugh at 'situational vertigo'. It's real, and can be debilitating...

I bought a Star Wars WII (think it was for the Wii) game, and got so screwed up, I stood up and fell over sideways... I had to sit there for a while to get my head attached again. Not the most comfortable feeling.

There are many things that tick me off about iOS 7. The zooming, the font, the FaceBook app seizing my iPhone, the Bluetooth not working well, the color keyed 'wallpaper/desktop', the iCal app layout, the number of apps showing in each folder when opened, deleting cities in the Weather app. And on and on and on...:D

HOW DO YOU DELETE CITIES IN THE WEATHER APP? It's driving me nuts!:mad::(:confused::confused::confused::confused::p

Yep this is for real...

My wife - sensitive to strobes and visual stim - mentioned her discomfort over this very thing the other day. I was really surprised as the effect is so minor, but she she has to look away because the motion is disorienting to her. You should see her wince when I FF or RW the DVR.

I personally like the effects as well.

This can be a real issue for some percent of society.

Just saying.

iPad, nimrod... iPad! Thank Ford they aren't bigger. Some people would need to use it in a bag...

DO NOT dismiss others problems. It makes one out to be a callous *******, and there are enough of those already... PLUS, when you get older, you might find yourself a victim of Karma...

Ludwig Beethoven! He was deaf!
Wolfgang Mozart! Apparently he loved younger girls?
Albert Einstein! He didn't talk, or walk, until much later in his childhood. Most thought him retarded...

...nybe, writes, "I had to go home 'sick' from work because of the intense nausea due to using my iPhone with iOS 7."

Oh, please. Even if that was remotely true my response would be: Put the phone away and get your ass back to work.

The overt childishness and plain stupidity of majority of the posts in this thread is simply overbearing and asinine. The part that's even more sad is that most that are participating in all of that won't even get this.

I'm stunned by the extent posters in this forum are so dismissive of the complaints. You are embarassing people who use Apple products but still value the ability to be critical.

I agree with this. Everyone wants to complain about the complainers so they'll seem that they're somehow...I dunno...smarter and more stable than the people complaining? "Look at me, all not having a problem with this thing some people are having a problem with. I'm obviously much better, and am going on record by stating that they're dumb". The funny tragedy of it is that they end up looking far worse than the people they're complaining about. It's a self defeating act.

It doesn't take much to make someone susceptible to motion sickness feel off. Even the tiniest "it doesn't move the way my brain expects it to move" motion can make some unfortunate people queasy. Even people who don't need to dope up on Dramamine can occasionally feel it. Like if I'm riding shotgun in a car while someone is backing up, and they don't go as fast or as slow as I'm expecting them to, the sensation not matching up to my expectations ends up making me feel a little woozy headed.

So yeah, that parallax effect and all those zoomy windows can make some people motion sick quite easily.

On the Apple Weather App, there's an icon in the lower right that looks like a list. Tap that. You should then get a list of the cities where you can swipe to the left to delete it.

Yeah, I also hate when people with epilepsy complain about flashing lights that induce seizures. Such whiners.

(Maybe we should consider where these people are coming from and consider the CHANCE that they have a legitimate condition or concern instead of just lashing out judgements and calling them complainers.)

That's not even comparable!
