Glad apple pulled 8.0.1 update before more iphone 6/6+ owners could update. They also blocked it from updating iphone 6 even if your were able to download it but tried to update using iTunes.
Hopefully they come out with a fix for iphone owners who's iphone had issues.

I had to take mine to the Genius Bar because my MacBook pro was in for repair and I didn't have a way to connect it to iTunes.

I literally had to argue with a genius who was adamant about there being no issue with the update and said I either jailbroke my phone or didn't pay the bill. Luckily I got a manager who helped.

The pompous attitude of Apple employees at times is enough to make me switch

1. Download the iOS 8.0 firmware (for iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus) file from Apple.

iOS 8.0 (iPhone 6 Plus): iPhone7,1_8.0_12A366_Restore.ipsw
iOS 8.0 (iPhone 6): iPhone7,2_8.0_12A365_Restore.ipsw

2. While the file you need is coming in, go into Settings > iCloud and turn off Find My iPhone.

3. Next, connect the iPhone to a PC or Mac running iTunes using a cable connection (not Wi-Fi), and allow the two to connect.

4. Make a local backup using iTunes before you do anything else by clicking on the Backup Now button. Make sure you update to "this computer," rather than iCloud, encrypt the backup if you want to keep passwords, and make sure to include apps. Allow that to complete.

5. From the iPhone screen in iTunes, hold down Alt (on Mac) and Shift (on Windows) and click on Restore iPhone and point iTunes to the file you downloaded earlier.

6. Allow the restore to take place and when you iPhone reboots it will be running iOS 8.

7. Reload your data and apps by clicking on Restore from this backup and allow the process to complete.

8. Re-enable Find My iPhone.

#5 is the problem. I point it to the zip folder you mentioned and then it just keeps taking me into the folder and sub folders and ultimately no single file to select to open.

I totally missed this update and I'm glad I did. It's embarrassing that they released it in this way and form. I feel really bad for those of you who got affected by this buggy update. They had better release a fix very soon or else this, bendgate, and all of those other issues might have people lose a lot of trust in Apple.

Now that's stupid because if you don't pay your bill, you still connect to the service, you just can't call anything but 911 (in the US, by law).

Doesn't matter to me anymore, I just bought a Blackberry passport and I going back to BB OS10.

I have had way to many issues with IOS on my new 6. Screen freezes and function buttons that don't work and apps crashing.

I paid allot of money for this device and expected better results that what I have had. I have had a couple of friends who bought the 6 plus and have had the bent device issue and are ticked off after spending close to a thousand dollars for them outright. Not good folks, not good.

How does an update that kills the basic function of a phone get released?

This is just hilarious. Reminds me of the beta in iOS7 that silenced all calls.

The apps need updated for compatibility to iOS 8 ... but enjoy your dead tech :)
