if they do testing that could be awhile... a week
Then that's what it will be. The alternative is higher likelihood of seeing what we saw earlier today, so I would argue most would have no issues waiting a bit more rather than dealing with (more) issues.

(Of course this is all assuming that those that did get affected by the bad update earlier today when it was available have a way to recover from that and aren't just stuck without any good options until that new update comes out.)

Ya I can't see it being long.

The average person isn't capable of downloading the 8.0 ISPW file and downgrading their OS back to 8.0.

I would imagine that everybody at apple dropped what they were doing to get this resolved ASAP.

I would imagine a fix before tomorrow.

might as well wait and release iOS 8.0.1 to include the delayed features such as iCloud Photo Library and SMS continuity then..

I'm not so sure...

I really hope it's before tomorrow.

Apple is becoming more & more pathetic each year, slowly going down in quality, it's sad to see.

Why can't Apple just push 8.0.0 as a new update to allow people to get their cell service back?

Agree.

I am definitely a huge apple fan but this debacle has me seriously thinking of leaving the apple universe.

2 issues that really bug me.

1. a .01 release that kills cell phone capability - SERIOUSLY ?????
2. 0 transparency. Sorry but the days of being secret/special are over.

I am all in with MBA, MBP, 4 iPhones.

Obviously not overnight, but as contracts are up, pc's get old etc...

Question, what are people with remote family doing? Thankfully I got to my mom before she updated, but there are people still with dead phones out there? This is crazy they haven't fixed it yet. Can't wait to see how Apple's PR handles this one.

That's what gets me more than anything....why aren't they putting out a statement or something or telling people where to go for wifi so they can re download 8.0.0 or go to their nearest apple store for help. FFS what a cluster....

How Apple has handled this thus far is clearly Amateur Hour at Cupertino....

Agreed.

Especially since cell phones, some peoples ONLY phone line are down.

This is not your usual bug......

it says it's going to take well over an hour for me to download 8.0. might just restore. hopefully I can download an old 8.0 icloud backup.

I used to FEARLESSLY update Apple products. They'd try to push me an update and I would do no research or anything and immediately click update, wait for it to do its thing and then carry on with what I was doing.

Now however I NEVER do that with Apple products. Not even minor updates to programs in OSX (standard Safari, iMovies, etc etc updates) without waiting a day or two then browsing the forums to make sure its safe before updating.

Had a OSX and AppleTV update both mess up a Mac and AppleTV over the last two years severely enough to teach me better then to blindly update.

I feel bad for the people with no cellular on their brand new iPhones. Although we will likely never know the true reason I'd because curious to know what happened. What set of circumstances had iOS 8.0.1 running fine (assuming it was tested on at least a few devices) and then cause major problems upon release.

If Steve Jobs were still alive, half the company would be fired by now based on all this crazy stuff.

1. So many leaks, guessing about 200 people or so fired for this
2. Livestream not working for the announcement and having Chinese voice overlay, probably about 50 people fired over this
3. Apple store site being down way longer than it should be on preorder night, probably like 400 people fired over this
4. "Bend-gate" has to be like 500 people fired
5. 8.0.1 update debacle, like another 500 people fired

So that's maybe 1650 people fired over the last few weeks alone

Lots of people got fired when antenna problems were there with iPhone 4 with Steve around, right? People have the imaginary ideas of what Steve would or wouldn't do like they actually know him better than most who actually do know him. It's fun to imagine things, isn't it?

Going on 10 hours with no cell service. Lucky I've had wifi everywhere I went today or I would have thrown my iPhone in the garbage (ok I would have sold it).

I'm an apple loyalist. But if they doesn't get resolved by the time I get up tomorrow morning. I will be extremely disappointed.

All would be fixed if apple gave everybody that upgrade to 8.0.1 in the 2 hours that it was up a small Gift or something.

10 hours? Why don't you download the 8.0 IPSW file and downgrade? It's really not that hard. Even ZDNet has a link on their home page.

SJ was a miracle worker. Nothing ever bad happened in his watch.

SJ did wave his hand and all iPhone 4's were cured of the antenna issues!
